Grant me footsteps of faith, Lord Jesus,/ My path make the one You have shown. / May Your grace be my strength as I journey / with heart that is starving and thirsting, / yet again to Your grace throne.
I give thanks to You, Lord, for mercy, / which here through Your gospel I own. / Through Your Spirit Your children possess it. / Once they as a gift have received it, / they will share what they have found.
SHZ 477
Help me, Jesus, to travel onward, / my footsteps keep firm on this way. / ‘Mid the dangers of sin and corruption / I find here Your comforting haven. / There is peace, security.
Through derision and dreadful trials / my pathway winds narrow and steep. / From this warfaring home congregation / take me to Your heavenly mansion, / into everlasting peace.
“Be Ye Not Unequally Yoked Together With Unbelievers” (2 Cor.
6:14)

What is a yoke?
Two kinds of yoking
• Equally yoked
Unequally Yoked
Unequally Yoked With Unbelievers
•What does this mean?• To have fellowship with someone that would draw us away
from faith. •We could ask ourselves – “Why?”• “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for
what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Cor. 6:14)
LIGHT
DARKNESS
The Work Of The Enemy
• In our personal endeavor.• In our schools/colleges.• In the world around us.
The enemy of souls wants us to become sleepy in our battle in faith just as the disciples who slept.
Jesus instructed: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matt. 26 : 41).
The Work Of The Enemy – Personal Endeavor• Radio/Cds/Cell Phones/iPods and tablets – Bad music, etc. • Social media – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.• Internet – Pornography, Movies, Sporting events etc. — Addiction• In all the above we can become unequally yoked with unbelievers and
those things of this world that draw us from the teachings of God’s Word.
The Work Of The Enemy - In School/College• The world entices to come this way. (Parties, Sporting
Events, Concerts, etc.)• Attractions of the opposite sex. • The Bible teaches, “Thou shalt not take a wife of the
daughters of Canaan; And that Jacob obeyed his father and mother” (Gen. 28:6).
The Work Of The Enemy - In School/College• Taking part in sports. (Pressures from the coaches)• It can seem so innocent.• God’s Word does not change with the winds of this world
and with the mind of man. • “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever”
(Heb. 13:8).
Scripture Teaches
• “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away” (Prov. 4: 14,15). • “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them” (Rom. 16: 17).
The Work Of The Enemy - In The World• Temptation of being too close to those on the outside of
God’s Kingdom.• Temptation to go to the theatres of this world.• Temptation to go to the arenas to watch sporting events…
High school, college, professional.• The enemy works…slyly, cunningly.
Security In The Center Of The Flock• The blessing of believing friends. (What are true friends?)•We own true joy when sins are forgiven. • That keeps our hope of Heaven bright!• A beautiful place to dwell…God’s Kingdom. (Safe & secure)•We can own true freedom with the believers…fellowship with
young and old alike.
“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” (Rom.14:17).
Sing - Song 471
Father, guide me in Your truth, do not let me waver- / I received my time of youth / as gift, Creator. / As I travel on Your way, / hope is shining brightly /as a light that goes before, / drawing me to glory.
Leaves are scattered in the breeze / over fields and gardens / like the many youth we see / blown by changing doctrines; / in despair and hopelessness / with no sure foundation, / Satan’s spirit, merciless, /leads to condemnation.
Thank You, Father, that I may / grow as Your creation. / Shield me in Your love each day / in Your congregation. / In my calling, counsel me, / help me, give me mercy. / You forgive iniquity; / with Your Word You carry.
Jesus, I receive from You / days of honest labors, / that my gifts might all be used / serving all my neighbors. / Bless my work, and bless my rest; /bless my times of study. / Give me peace, contentedness / in each task and duty.
In my heart preserve Your light; / shine its truth and wisdom. / Keep my hope of heaven bright; keep me in Your kingdom. / May I always trust in You; / may I always heed You. / Father, through my days of youth, may I always need You.
Scripture Teaches
• “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal” (John 12: 25).• “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but
because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you” (John 15: 19).
Scripture Teaches
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
(1 John 2: 15-17)
Children Of The Light
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”
(Matt. 5:14-16)
Endeavor To Be Obedient
• “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).• “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto
the churches” (Rev. 2: 29).•We want to be departure ready at all times.
God Helps Us To The Destination
• “And the Lord, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed” (Deut. 31:8).• It pays to believe and continue in faith endeavoring to battle
against the threefold enemy.• “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Rom. 1:16).
THE REWARD IS GREAT!
