Something new Yahweh has done

New awareness of Yahweh’s sovereignty

Yahweh always deserves new songs!

Contrasts with “old, worldly” songs

New person sings a new song

Ps 33:4-9: God’s Dominion in Creation

› SING – SHOUT – PRAISE –

› Because of God’s word and God’s work.

These went hand in hand in creation.

› Recognizing the power of God should

bring about fear…. awe… reverence…

praise… and trust.

whose God is the LORD, The people

whom He has chosen for His own

inheritance.

› Israel’s existence as a nation is because

of the Lord’s plan.

› What about the rest of the nations of the

world? They too – have their existence

because of the plan of the Lord.

Individuals

Psalm 33:18-22 18 Behold! the eye of

the LORD is on those who fear Him, On

those who hope for His lovingkindness, 19 To deliver their soul from death, And

to keep them alive in famine.

› Even if our nation does not submit to the

Lord, the Lord knows who belongs to HIM.

Ps 33: 20-22: Conclusion: The Choice

to Rejoice

Confidence and prayer:

Psalm 33:20-22: Our soul waits for the

LORD; He is our help and our shield. 21

For our heart rejoices in Him, Because

we trust in His holy name. 22 Let Thy

lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us,

According as we have hoped in Thee.
