ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT
Gift certificates are items that can be redeemed for products or services at your business, and are a very effective way of increasing client loyalty.
This feature is fully integrated with Shortcuts to save you time when processing transactions at the Point of Sale. Gift certificates are a great way to encourage your clients to return to the business, and can also help to increase revenue from discount-driven clients who may not have visited without a gift certificate.

1Click on the setup menu.
2Click on the configuration icon.
3Click on the sales setup menu.
4Click on the gift certificates icon.
5Click new.
6Enter the name of the gift certificate.
7Click done.
8Optional: Enter a default amount for the gift certificate.
9Tick the ‘requires tracking number’ box if you want the gift certificate to require a tracking number.
10Optional: Enter an expiry.

11Tick this box if you want employees to receive credit when they sell a gift certificate.
12If you have chosen to give employees credit, enter the portion of the sale you want employees to receive as credit.
13If you’re using clubs, you can choose whether you want clients to receive points when they buy a gift certificate, or when they redeem it.

4Select the relevant client.

6Click on an empty sale line.
7Select the relevant employee.

9Select the gift certificate you want to sell.

11If you need to change the price of the gift certificate, click on the relevant cell in the price column.
12Enter the price of the gift certificate.
13Click done.
14Select the relevant payment type.
15Enter the value that is being processed using this payment type.

17Click end sale.
AIf the gift certificate requires a tracking number, this window will appear. If this is not your first time selling a gift certificate, a tracking number will be automatically generated.
18Enter a tracking number or use the default tracking number.

1Once the transaction is prepared and ready to be processed at the Point of Sale, click on the custom payment type button.
2Click on gift certificate.
3If your gift certificates have tracking numbers, you will need to select the appropriate gift certificate from the list.
4If the client is only making a partial redemption from the gift certificate, click edit and enter the desired amount.
5Click done.

AThe amount from the gift certificate will be deducted from the total price.
6If there is any remaining balance left on the transaction, process this as usual by selecting the relevant payment type and entering the value.

7Click end sale to complete the transaction.

1Click on the tools menu.
2Click on the reports icon.
3Expand the business category.
AThere are three gift certificate reports available: expired, expiring, and outstanding gift certificates.
4Select the report you wish to view.
5Click view.
6Select the date (or date range).
7Click view to generate the report.
