Age groupsWe have courses designed for students aged 11+. The age groups for each course are included as part of the course title. English courses, including English Plus, are suitable for students aged 16 or older but please note that these courses also include adults.

Accommodation For students over 16 studying a short course, halls of residence in London are available, including UAL halls during the summer. Outside of the summer we can refer students to one of our homestay, non-UAL halls of residence, or private accommodation partners.

Residential courses include accommodation as part of the course fee, usually in a boarding school or hall of residence. Please note that any students studying English aged under 18 must stay in homestay accommodation due to British Council accreditation requirements.

How to book Most short courses do not require an application form so it is quick and easy to get registered and book your place directly online. The requirements may differ depending on the type of course, so do check the details on the course page before you make your booking.

English levels To participate fully, students should have good written and spoken English, although we do not require an English certificate for admission to short courses. As a guideline for students whose first language is not English, we recommend IELTS (or equivalent) of 4.5 for practical courses and 6.0 for lecture-based courses. The minimum level of English for most English Plus courses is IELTS 4.0.

All students will need correct visa clearance before beginning their course. Please check our website for details.
