Since the early days of ‘Wogs out of Work’, Acropolis Now and Wogboy, ethnic comedy has made a huge impact on Australia’s cultural land-scape. It gives us an opportunity to reflect on the quirky side of the cul-tures and traditions that make us such a rich society today, while at the same time highlighting the similar qualities that can be found in every family of any cultural background.

After the roaring success of Il Dago

back in 2007, the boys are back in town, this time with their very own WOK-BOY, Jason Chong bringing his own mix of Asian humour to the table.

For those who aren’t familiar with the show... It’s a musical comedy. Il Dago is a collection of Austra-lia’s best stand-up comics: Joe Avati, Simon Palomares and the irrepressible George Kapiniaris. It is also a take off of operatic group, Il Divo. That came about quite simply

because, as the producer of the show, Joe Avati explains, “I said to the other guys, I wanna produce a show with some clever - but clean - wog humour. We’ll get dressed up in suits, we’ll look really schmick, Las Vegas-style like Il Divo, right?” And one of the other guys said “...And we’ll call it Il Dago.”

With Il Dago 2 about to commence its tour of Australia, it seemed a great time to take the confession of these stalwarts of the Australian stand up

comedy scene and take a drink from the Devils cup at a local favourite, Dundas Place Cafe in Albert Park!

Look out for them nationally, season commences April 8 2010.
