Nebraska Boiler

Cleaver Brooks purchased Nebraska Boilers 6 years

ago and after some initial growing pains, have man-

aged to

dominate the industrial

boiler market with over

80% market share in the

size ranges 250,000 lb/hr

and under. Cleaver

Brooks/

Nebraska Boilers offer

D, O & A style boilers

in welded as well as tangent tube design. Cleaver

Brooks investment into the Nebraska facility

includes an expansion of the plant, new tube

bending department and a new drum drilling

machine. I would challenge anyone to find a

better-made boiler.

Natcom

Shortly after Cleaver Brooks purchased Nebraska

Boilers they went looking for technology based

companies that would complement their product

line and low

and behold

they found

one and in all

places, Mont-

real. Natcom

was pur-

chased and

first intro-

duced to the

Nebraska product line and later to the rest of the

product offering. Natcom brings to the table

advanced burner technology in the 20 to 600

million btu’s range and as low as 9 ppm emissions.

The stainless steel construction center core

technology and hyper mix is revolutionizing the

burner industry. The Natcom burner is suitable for

new equipment or retrofit applications alike.

Truefire

The Truefire is a wetback, firetube, hot water boiler

offering 88% efficiency, reliability and

performance in a compact design. Sizes range from

30,000 to 3,000,000 btu/hr oil or gas firing, utilizing

on off, step and full modulation design, as well as

offering a 20 year pressure vessel warranty against

thermal shock and 7 years against low

water flow or burner flame impingement and up to

88% efficiency. This boiler is a great choice in both

retrofit application and new construction.

Clearfire

JULY 2003 SHOP TALKSHOP TALK

The Clearfire boiler is a

single pass, down fired,

full condensing capable

firetube boiler. It has

stainless steel tubes with

internal aluminum

(AluFer) extended heating

surfaces providing

exceptional heat transfer

and high efficiencies. The

boiler has a 20 year pres-

sure vessel warranty

against thermal shock cracking and has no

minimum return water temperature

requirements. It

guarantees a 98%

efficiency with 80ºF

return water

temperatures. The burner is fully modulating,

featuring 5:1 turndown, whisper quiet (70 DBA)

operation, sub 10 ppm Nox, ASME constructed and

manufactured to ISO 9001 standards.

Profire LN/NT

The Profire LN/NT is available in all the same sizes

as the standard burner and has all the same

capabilities except the

LN/NT have the abil-

ity to obtain sub 20

ppm NOx with sub 50

ppm Co @ 3% O2.

Profire

The Profire burner is

a available in sizes

from 1

million to 63

million btu’s and able to retrofit to any boiler. The

burner features forced draft air atomizing or

pressure atomizing designs. They are both UL and

cUL listed and conform to CSD-1 II and FM

requirements. The reverse curve fan offers low

motor horse power, self cleaning, low maintenance

costs, high resistance to stack draft fluctuations and

quiet operation. The burner has dual fuel capabili-

ties and can be fitted with parallel positioning, re-

mote oil pumps, inverted housing

arrangement, NEMA 4 or 12 components and steam

atomizing.

Level Master

The Level Master is a

new, one of a kind water

level control system. It

delivers an adaptable

package with enhanced safety features and an

extensive security system as well as the highest

degree of safety compared with the low water

cut-off devices on the market today. It eliminates

the snap acting/mercury switch debate. The visual

indication of level is far easier to see than on a con-

ventional gauge glass. Blow down reminder and

reporting assures proper maintenance/operation.

Auxiliary Low Water Cut Off testing assures proper

functioning of this important

control. Pre-warning of low/high water condition

can indicate various problems with the steam

system; valve leaks, pipe breaks, pump problems,

water pressure problems, steam pressure problems,

chemical problems, etc. Security code assures the

control level setting cannot be tampered with.

Self-checking electronics assure the control is work-

ing properly even when the boiler is off line! The

controller plugs in for ease of service…No

wiring! A simplistic, modular design saves on

maintenance inspection time, working in

conjunction with VSD to save energy costs! The

history log gives peace of mind (locally/remotely)

showing that this important control is functioning

properly and being maintained on a routine basis. It

gives us important information about the steam sys-

tem with indications of high and low water alarm-

ing, also records and stores history of last 999

alarms.

ICB Boiler

The ICB is a low cost alternative to multi-featured

boilers. It has a compact design and smaller

footprint versus wet back boilers. There are no con-

fined space entry issues with easy access to all tube

ends and there is no manway necessary for

access to reversing furnace. It is a 3 or 4 pass

arrangement with tube removal from either end.

V OLUME 5 , ISSUE 3 P AGE 2

Features include no restriction to water backed turn-

around chamber/reversing furnace and no

refractory in flue gas reversing chamber, with low

NOx burners available, highest efficiencies on the

market, liberal steam release area, davited front and

rear doors for easy access and well proportioned I/d

ratio.

Hawk ICS

The Hawk ICS is a boiler

management control

system, which integrates the

control function of burner se-

quencing and safety with fir-

ing rate, fuel-air ratio and op-

erating limit controls. Its fea-

tures include a

programmable controller, touch screen graphical

human machine interface monitors and displays

connected boiler parameters. It optimizes firing rate

control, alarm/fault indication and history, on-screen

fault diagnostics, night/day set back control and ther-

mal shock protection. It has remote modulation, re-

mote set point, assured low fire cut-off, assures start

permissive safety interlocking, high stack

temperature alarm and shutdown and boiler

efficiency calculations. The Hawk ICS optional

features include: colour graphics, e-mail and pager

alarm fault forwarding, fuel-air ratio control,

building/plant automation system interface, remote

internet monitoring and diagnostics, O2 monitoring

and trim, internet parts and service lookup. As well

as built-in two boiler lead/lag control, lead/lag

capability for multiple boiler systems, variable speed

drive on combustion air fan and diagnostic annuncia-

tion. The Hawk ICS maximizes system efficiency,

incorporates an expandable PLC and 10” touch

screen graphical interface, is user friendly and easy

to set up. It reduces cycling and boiler wear, thereby

reducing maintenance and downtime costs. It opti-

mizes fuel savings, provides auto

rotation (bases on elapsed run-time) or manual

rotation of boilers sequencing, tracts elapse run-time

since last rotation, has configurable start point for

lead/lag modulation and configurable firing rate con-

trol, Internet communications, common point for e-

mail and alphanumeric paging of alarms from all

connected boilers. Dual set points, outdoor reset of

hot water boilers and a common connection point to

indicate readouts and alarms from common boiler

room control systems, such as feedwater and/or

deaerator systems.

CEILCOTE AIR POL-

LUTION

CONTROL

Company History

The Ceilcote Corporation

began operating in 1926 as a

supplier of industrial

corrosion resistant materials

beginning with a corrosion

resistant lining for acid pickling tanks. Since that

time, Ceilcote has introduced a wide range of

products to the industrial marketplace including tank

linings, protective coatings, reinforced plastic

process vessels, filamentous tower packing,

corrosive air handling fans, and air pollution control

equipment and systems.

Beginning in 1956, Ceil-

cote pioneered the

development and

manufacture of reinforced

plastic corrosion resistant

equipment, such as pipe

tanks, and fume handling

systems. In 1960, Ceilcote

entered the air pollution control equipment

business through extension of its process equipment

fabrication capabilities. Through innovative product

development, Ceilcote introduced Tellerette Tower

Packing to the market in the early 1960’s and fiber-

glass reinforced plastic fans for corrosive fume han-

dling in 1966. Later product introductions include:

chevron blade mist eliminators, rod-bed venturi

scrubbers, eductor

venturi scrubbers, sieve tray scrubbers, improved

versions of Tellerette Tower Packing (our Type-K);

and our ionizing wet scrubber systems (IWS). More

recent product additions include Interel packaged

scrubbers and licenses for fluid bed scrubber

technology and point-of use scrubbers for the

semiconductor industry.
