Special Seudah Shlishit Program Next Shabbat

for Men and Women

Motivated by the Rambam, who wrote "...that the greatest level of

charity, above which there is no other, is to support a fellow Jew

by...finding employment for him, in order to strengthen his hand until

he is no longer dependent upon others", JobKatif was launched 11

years ago.

Initially working with the Gush Katif evacuees, of which the Baltimore

community has been exceedingly generous, in recent years, Rav

Yosef Zvi Rimon and his staff have launchedother programs to

strengthen the hand of other marginalized population groups through

employment initiatives. One such initiative is Achotenu, a

breakthrough program enabling young Ethiopian women to earn

nursing degrees.

The first group of ten women just completed their studies and will be

working in Israel's hospitals. The next cohort of 25 women will begin

their 5-year academic program at Hebrew University this coming

Fall.

Ta'asuChayil, another new employment initiative works closely with

IDF soldiers fromseverely depressed backgrounds. JobKatif

continues to help struggling GK evacuees.

On Shabbat Parashat Bechukotai (June 4th) at Seudah Shlishit, Rabbi

Marwick will be presenting a short outline of these important new

initiatives, and Judy Lowy, Executive Director, will be joining us to

share moving moments whereby JobKatif has helped turn people's

lives around. Their success is Israel's success.
