Shine. In the presence of haters
Five lessons in dealing with
opposition from the life of Daniel.
1. Anything that you came into the church with, is natural and holy.
2. Anything that begins/changes after you have been in the church for a while is compromise, unholy and
part of the Jesuit infiltration.
Historical Musical Pattern:
1.Separation
2. Integration
3. Conflict
4. Renewal
1. If you don’t want to be attacked, ask God not to
bless you.
We like to admire success and attack successful people.
Daniel 6:3 Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers.
Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the
entire empire.
Daniel 6:4 Then the other administrators and high officers
began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything
to criticize or condemn.
2. Haters don’t set the agenda. Don’t negotiate with
terrorists.
Love is a right. Trust is a privilege. We are to love everyone. Trust some.
Friendly with everyone.
Friends with a few.
Daniel 6:10 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt
down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed
three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.
The problem with terrorists1. Never satisfied.
2. Usually are fighting a problem bigger than yours.
3. They make you chase the devils rabbits.
Two questions1.Who sets your agenda?
2.Who are you empowering?
3. Your job is to be faithful. God’s job is to make sure
justice is done.
Daniel 6:24 Then the king gave orders to arrest the men who had maliciously
accused Daniel. He had them thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. The lions leaped on them and tore them apart before they even hit the
floor of the den.
If God is for me, those who are against me are
wasting their time.
4. Those you helped yesterday might betray you tomorrow.
Nobody "owes" you anything.
Daniel 3:8 But some of the astrologers went to the king and informed on the Jews. 12 But there are some Jews—Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego—whom you have put in charge of the province of Babylon. They pay
no attention to you, Your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the
gold statue you have set up.”
Daniel 2:17 Then Daniel went home and told his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what had happened. 18 He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by
telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of
Babylon.
Daniel 2:24 Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, “Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of
his dream.”
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and
your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to
the ungrateful and the evil.
5. Engaging the enemy is a waste of time.
Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend
ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your
Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set
up.”
Three do’s and dont’s1.Don’t defend yourself.
2.Do keep your focus vertical.
3.Do continue to obey.
God's reward supersedes man’s attacks. The stronger
and more public the attack, the greater the reward.
Daniel 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher
positions in the province of Babylon.
