As opportunities and EV technologies explode, the emerging markets with highest growth
potential are ASEAN, especially Thailand. Moreover, growing air pollution in major cities
throughout the region mean that many governments in ASEAN are aiming to increase the
number of EVs through policy measures and expanded infrastructure.
The global Electric Vehicle (EV) market will be
getting a charge from Thailand as the Kingdom
emerges to be a leading global manufacturer
of EV and Batteries, according to a forecast by
K-Research. The government's commitment
to promoting and supporting the electric
vehicle industry is indisputable.
Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to
offer incentives for EV manufacturers and tax
reductions on sales of their cars. Companies
can get corporate tax breaks for eight years,
exemptions from import duties on machinery
and parts, and reductions in excise taxes. That
combination of policies and incentives is the
most advanced in the region.
