Join us for what New York Magazine calls “North America’s premier repertory company,” and see for yourself why this is our most popular trip every year. The Shaw Festival is a justifiably famous destination for great theatre, and the 2017 lineup of plays under the first year of their new artistic director, Tim Carroll, is outstanding. With the option to choose from a selection of works by George Bernard Shaw and other playwrights, this is an opportunity for a great weekend of first-rate theatre for you and your friends in a beautiful and welcoming location. This year the entire group will attend five plays together, and you get to choose one of your matinee performances! On Thursday night we see the Obie Award-winning comedy by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, An Octoroon; on Saturday afternoon you attend Dracula, by Bram Stoker; that evening you see the drama Middletown, by Will Eno, and on Sunday we conclude our weekend of theatre with a matinee performance of Alan Bennett’s The Madness of King George III, and an evening performance of Shaw’s Androcles and the Lion. As always, we are giving you options for a few of your plays. For your Saturday evening play you may choose Shaw’s classic, Saint Joan, or the lovely Irish masterpiece, Dancing at Lughnasa, by Brian Friel; and this year’s optional plays are the musical comedy, Me and My Girl, book and lyrics by L. Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber, on Friday afternoon, and the lunchtime one-act, Wilde Tales, by Oscar Wilde, on Saturday morning. No matter which plays you decide upon you really can’t go wrong. Don’t worry about it now, though. Once you register for the trip we’ll ask you which plays you wish to see.
