FIRST
THINGS
FIRST In order to insure
your success the biggest key to unlocking the door is…getting to know the
products by using them. Since most of the products are consumable and have
a money back guarantee, You have nothing to loose. ( AirSource and Bestwater
products have warrantees.) Also, since you probably already use most of
these types of products already, it is just a matter of redirecting income you
are already spending and changing brands to Shaklee.
Shaklee is a very unique company with very high scientific and ethical
standards. As you use the products, you will discover that the company effort
has paid off.
Every product is effective and special.
TEN QUALITIES OF AN IDEAL BUSINESS
1. Huge market
2. Market demand (at any price)
3. Low labor requirement
4. Consumable product
5. Low overhead
6. Unique product
7. Low start-up cost
8. Cash business
9. Portable (no fixed marketplace or territory)
10. Challenges your intellectual energies
This business has all 10 !!!
5
10 REASONS List 10 reasons why you want to do a Shaklee
Business. Be specific and list in the present
tense, as if you have already accomplished your
goal.
Example: I love working from my home.
I love planning my own work schedule.
When you know your ―why‖ the ―how‖ will follow.

A Coaching Contract
"Coaching" is an appropriate and useful metaphor for understanding the relationship
between a new SHAKLEE Business Builder and his or her Shaklee Mentor.
By entering into a coaching relationship I agree to teach you as you agree:
. to follow your coach for the first 6 months to 1 year
During this time, you will be coached through a process of learning material
that will increase your confidence and competence. You will learn Reaching Out
Methods that work. You will have support until you are ready to work independently
. to commit to weekly work on you're "thinking"
95% of the problems you will encounter will be in your head! Your coach will direct
you to tapes and books that will allow you to face each "giant" and WIN!
.to learn new communication skills
A number of techniques and skills are necessary in building a business. These include
learning to be a good storyteller (sharing your and others success stories), learning to
turn benefits into questions, and learning to become an excellent listener.
.to examine your motives
Your "why" must be powerful enough, to sustain you through inevitable difficulties. You
and your coach will explore these motives so you can encourage each other.
.to develop short term and long term goals
Your coach will help you write down plans and strategies consistent with you're own
strengths and interests.
.to help others discover for themselves the
Shaklee Difference
You will learn the importance in helping others discover for themselves why these
products can change their lives and why this opportunity can be a vehicle to financial
independence. You will learn both computer and non-computer tools to do this.
.to become a competent risk taker
Personal growth is an important and necessary benefit of a Shaklee business. You
will be stretched and challenged, but also, within 6 months, we believe you will be
amazed!. You will understand how to be a competent Risk Taker..
I accept the responsibilities and opportunities of being coached in my SHAKLEE Business. Date_________Your Signature___________________________________________________ Coaches Signature_____________________________________________________________

something they too would like in their lives. As your business grows, you will find that it is not just people you know, but people they know , who become customers and friends and possibly
business colleagues with you. Don’t judge….just jot down names.

T.LO.P.….SWSWSWSWN….OPEN/CLOSED…ALOQ
Talk to Lots of People
You could not imagine a retail establishment doing well if it only had a few
customers. Same principles apply to your business. Fill in lots of names on
your People Bank List. Remember that people you know can lead you to people
they know. Also, as you gain skills in authentic listening and asking
appropriate , helpful questions, a world of people will open up to you.
Add to your list as often as possible.
Some Will, Some Won’t, So What, Next…..Is a Person Open or Closed?
You are simply looking for people who are open to the types of products and
to the possibility of earning income with your company. Knowing right from
the start that you will experience both ―Yes‖ and ―No‖ in your daily attempts to
grow keeps you away from self doubt and feeling rejected. To allow people to
be most comfortable with you, you need to be emotionally unattached to
whatever they choose at a given time…including not being interested. If you
needed food and the grocery store was closed, would pounding on the window
screaming , ―I need food‖ do you any good? Do not ―pound‖ on people either.
Being unattached to the outcome, knowing there are interested people out
there, allows you to have more fun with the adventure and leaves relationships
more comfortable.
Keep a loving, sincere and friendly attitude and apply the principle of NEXT!
Ask Lots of Questions
We learn a lot in this business and it can be tempting to assume the other
person wants to learn what has helped us so much. Never just assume. Ask
lots of questions. People love connection and questions let them know that
you are truly interested in them. Authentic, active listening is a luxury these
days and people will appreciate it. By listening you make that friendly,
supportive connection and you may find an opening for a questions that gives
you permission to see if they are open to an appointment to explore
possibilities for better health or income. Without permission, we become
perceived as pushy, etc. With permission, we become a wonderful, life
enriching friend.
Relax. Enjoy people. Enjoy differences. Enjoy challenges.

MODULE 2
This Module is about Quality Sponsoring. Many people will desire a Shaklee
membership to qualify for the Member Net price. That is always fine. However, it
is the job of the sponsor (or the upline leader if the sponsor has not had training)
to orient the new member to all of the member benefits. For the privilege of being
sponsored, it is expected of the new member to make an appointment to go over
these benefits.
This can be done in person or on the phone. Send each new member to the site
www.Your Team Resources.com. Have them click on Member Orientation. Here
They will be able to access the presentation ―Member Benefits‖ and the printable
Resources piece. Set a time to go over this together or to follow-up if they are
going through it themselves.
If you have sponsored several people, follow up can be done for all of them
together on a teleconference call as well. (Go to www.freeconferencecall.com to
obtain a free conference call line for up to 90 people at a time.)
Quality Sponsoring is the biggest time and frustration saver imaginable. If you
and your members learn to sponsor people with a ―sign here and get a discount‖
attitude, you will find that your customers thought that was all there was to it. Any
attempt to educate them or share benefits will be perceived as ―bugging ― them.
They will use few products because they know little. They may perceive they can
afford few products because they do not know the earning opportunity attached.
People cannot be free to choose options if they do not know what they are.
To complete Module 2, do the following and check off when completed:
…..Read ―e Sponsoring Process‖
…..Read ―the 1-5-15-30 Day Follow-Up
…..Obtain a free conference call line (see above)
….Listen and take notes on the Sponsoring presentation
at www.ShakleeUniversity.com
13
THE SPONSORING PROCESS
You want to sponsor people ―according to the book‖ of the Quality Sponsoring Process.
You may sponsor people in the U.S.A and globally.
There may be times when people desire to sponsor immediately with the first product
purchase. At other times, they will purchase their first order at the retail price and
sponsor when they find they are pleased and want to order routinely.
Remember, you are not promoting the sale of memberships and discounts alone. Make
it clear that in your business you want no member cheated of the knowledge of his or
her full benefits. Also make it clear that they are free to choose all or just a few of the
benefits. Shaklee has no obligations….only privileges.
To sponsor a new member, follow these steps:
…..Call 1-800-SHAKLEE to activate a membership immediately. A hard copy of the
membership should be sent in or faxed within 30 days. Hard copies can be ordered
from Shaklee or Printed off at www.YourTeamResources.com
(Talk to your sponsor about Internet sponsoring as an option if you have a Shaklee
Personal Web Site (PWS) . You may also simply fax Memberships to 1-888-SHK-4FAX.
…..When you call have the following information:
…..Name, address, phone number and e-mail
…..Social Security Number or Driver’s License*
(If spouse is joining, have both numbers.)
…..Sponsor’s ID number
….Once registered by phone, you will be given the member’s ordering ID number and an
order may be placed immediately . (With PWS sponsoring, order first, then follow the
sponsoring path as directed.)
Send your New Member to ―Member Orientation‖ at www.YourTeamResources.com
.Begin the 1-5-15-30 day Follow-Up Process.
*Members wishing to activate the earning benefit must provide Social Security Number
14
The 1-5-15-30 Day Follow Up Process
This is an organized way of providing service and creating
relationships. It is one of the most important connections.
Use a day timer, a computer program, a palm pilot, or 3x5 card file
with 1-31 day index tabs to remind yourself of the needed contact.
Use the system that is comfortable for you. But decide on a system right
away! You can always change your mind on the method, but without one, time
Is wasted, customers missed, and simplicity and clarity are sacrificed.
The day of the sale or contact, let the person know that you will be
calling to see if they have questions.
Day 1…Write or e-mail a personal “Thank You” note ,
If they have already become members, send them to
“Member Orientation” at www.YourTeamResources.com
or make an appointment to go over this in person..
Day 5….Give a call to see if products arrived all right and if there
are any questions, etc. If they are members, go over anything
they checked out at “Member Orientation”. If they are not members,
let them know you will connect in a few days to see how they
are doing and if they have questions on the products. .
Day 15. Call back as you said you would. See what other resources
They may be interested in…Maybe a personal or web cast
presentation can be scheduled . Some may desire
business training. Some may want a personal presentation.
Day 30…Time to reorder, evaluate nutritional programs, offer
Membership or share a CD or web site, etc. that may be of
interest. Remember it takes time to create relationships.
People are worth it.!
(Of course the days may not always be 1-5-15-30 but you have a
basic, organized way of conducting follow-up.)
15
MODULE 3
Understanding How Money Is Earned
A newly sponsored person may or may not be interested in fully understanding all
the numbers of the sales plan. It can be confusing to some, fascinating to others.
In Module 3 you will learn the numbers so that you never miss a bonus, know how
to work the plan to obtain a raise, and, have skill in sharing it with others.
However, more importantly, you will learn several simple, mind-opening ways to
share simply a conceptual overview of how the earning piece works without all the
details. Who knows? You may come up with another interesting way of seeing it!
Remember, it is your job to open the door to the earning possibilities at the New
Member Orientation. Every member deserves to know all their Member Benefits.
They also need to know that you will respect their right to choose or not choose
the various benefits.
To complete Module 3, read or do the following:
……..Read ―Choose Your Price‖ and the bonus structure
……..Discuss the Sales Plan with your mentor until you understand it.
_____Listen to ―Rapid Earning‖ at www.MyTrainingCenterLive.com
——–Rehearse several ways of presenting with your mentor, or
even record your presentation and listen to it. Family or
friends may be asked to critique you to help you gain skill.
You are becoming knowledgeable and skilled.
16
CHOOSE YOUR PRICE! Can you imagine going to a store and choosing the price you pay? How nice it would be if a store offered you volume discounts. For example, if you purchased over $300, the store would credit you a certain percentage. With your Shaklee Membership you can earn the best price, have volume discounts available to you every day of the year! No need to wait for a special offer or sale, AND earn money on top of that.. The key to earning is to become your own best customer and teach others to do the same. Here is some “Shaklee Language” to help you see how you can choose your price:
SRP (Suggested Retail Price).....non-member price MN (Member Net Price)..............approximately 15% savings from retail. All Members qualify for MN. DN (Distributor Net Price).........another 16% savings from MN. This price is earned by having at least 100 PV in personal use, as well as having a group of customers create a group volume of 250 PV points/month. SN (Sales Leader Net)................The price qualified Directors pay which is approximately 10% less than DN . Managing a small group of customers can earn you the best price. Any member can do the same! Save $$ and earn $$ as well while sharing wonderful healthy products!!!
17
The Shaklee Compensation Plan When we work for an employer, the compensation plan is usually a trade of time for a certain amount of money, This is fine and employers have made ways of supporting families available to many, many people. There are drawbacks though. Hourly wages can be great if they are high enough. Lower hourly wages stress people. Families often have both the man and woman working just to make ends meet. Salaries are becoming a description of being promised a certain amount of money per year but having no guarantee that you will have a personal life as employers hire fewer people and squeeze 50-60+ hour work weeks out of the person. Take a look at the Shaklee Compensation Plan and see the reward system that recognizes your effort and your willingness to teach and train others to do what you do. The Global Ambassador Program is another part of the way you earn money. Click on the Button at www.YourTeamResources.com to see this wonderful program.
Compensation for sales: *Purchase Volume (PV) determines the % of bonus. *Please note: To qualify for any bonus, each person must have at least 100 PV in personal use. 250-499 PV.........................4% 500-999 PV.........................8% 1000-1999 PV.......................12% 2000-2499 PV......................16% + pricing differential (SRP,MN,DN difference) A person is now a qualified Director & also qualifies to buy products at the Director price (SN=Supervisor Net). 2500-2999 PV.......................20% + pricing differential 3000-3999 PV.......................24% + pricing differential 4000-4999 PV.......................28% + pricing differential 5000-6999 PV.......................30% + pricing differential 7000-9999 PV........................32%+ pricing differential 10,000 + PV........................34%+ pricing differential Compensation plan for training other leaders: *First level=a leader you sponsored...Second level =a leader sponsored by your first level, etc. *BGV= Business Group Volume=your PV + all the PV of all your leaders Leadership Title........First Levels.....*BGV.... .1

You choose the level of involvement you like or have time for. You can work 20 hours/week yet be paid a % on those you have trained which increases your paycheck without leaving you lacking in time for yourself and your family.

6- Month Plan
5000 PV Director @ 30% Bonus
Director with three1st level Associates and two 1st level Distributors
You are at the business leader (SN) price level
Group PV Bonus is $1500 per month + mark-ups
How to Build This Group
Sponsor 5 new members each month for 6 months
Recruit 1 new 1st level business builder each month for 6 months
Teach your new business builders to do exactly the same thing
This is network marketing. You do not have to personally sponsor 5 new members each month. If
you sponsor 1 new member, then you do 2 in-home events in that new member’s home and sponsor 4 new 2nd level members- that is 5 new members that have joined your group who are using Shaklee products. Your first goal is to have a solid base of members using the products by the end of 6 months. That
is your 1000 PV block represented above. Your second goal is to have at least 5 active business building lines that are building towards the
5000 PV Director level by the end of 6 months. Put the names of your new business builders as you recruit them in the 5 blocks represented above.

MODULE 4 Lack of organization or adequate help as you devote more time to your
business, can stifle your growth and earnings.. It can also lead to
missed follow up on requests or support for your customers.
Module 4 presents some tried and true methods of follow up and
organization . It is most important is that you have a solid system.
It has been said, ―The enemy of a good system, is the illusion of it‖.
In other words, you can be ―busy‖ and have mountains of paperwork,
and fool yourself into thinking this is an organized system.
It has also been said, ―The pain of discipline weighs ounces while
a lack of discipline weighs tons.‖ Having a place for everything and
everything in it’s place saves your energies so that you are free to
see the people. As you grow, you will want to hire office help and
it will be easy to show another person your system. (Before you need
office help, it may be wise to hire help around the house and use your
bonus money to cover that. ( Remember , you can pay your children to
help and have that money be tax deductible.) Do what
you need to do to keep family needs met while you
devote time to your growing business.
Discuss the division of chores and work time with those
you live with so that your family and personal life
remain balanced.
Here is your checklist for Module 4
___Establish a work area
___Set up a Shaklee checking account.
___Read ―Some Organizational Suggestions…‖
___ Complete the ―Office Organization Check list‖
____Read ―Priority vs. Pay-Off Activities‖
20
SOME ORGANIZATIONAL SUGGESTIONS
FOR CUSTOMER FOLLOW-UP
What you choose to help you organize and how you choose to do it is not
nearly as important as the fact that you make a choice and implement it
immediately!! People are so different in the way they learn and in the way they
find to make this task more enjoyable. Remember,
you can always set up a system, try it out for a few months and either keep it or
revise it.
Here are a few ways that people commonly use to organize their
follow-up:
…..3x5 cards in a box with 1-31 day dividers
…..Move these cards through the 1-5-15-30 day system
…..Each day you will know who you need to call
…..Simple, inexpensive, requires no special skill or equipment
…..Daytimers
…..Move through the pages for 1-5-15-30 day system
…..Record daily actions & customer requests’
…..Computer Contact Managers
…..Shaklee Business Office Software System (SBOSS)
has many features to help you manage your contacts.
…..You may have another contact manager system
.....If you enjoy the computer, worth the time & effort to learn
……Palm Pilots
……Contact Manager lists filed in a notebook
……Accordian pleated file folder (12+ pockets) or stackers for the desk
to keep papers organized and away from your work space.
Take 10 minutes to go through it daily .
……Carbonless Phone Message Books at each phone
…..Go through the books daily. Only rip top copy off when
the request or task has been taken care of. You can then
easily see what there is yet to do.
21
…..
OFFICE ORGANIZATION CHECKLIST
…..I have established a work area or a work room as my office.
….I have a Shaklee checkbook.
….My chosen system of follow up at this time is_________________________
_____________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________
….I have a carbonless phone message book at each phone.
....I have a desk and some stackers for paperwork.
(Some desks have a drawer that will hold hanging file
folders which works well.)
….I have purchased hanging file folders.
….I have a file cabinet or box for the file folders.
….I know how to create files for information stored in my computer.
….I know how to use the filters in the SBOSS program.
….I have asked for help in learning to utilize my computer or in
setting up my system if this is needed. (In other words, I am
not procrastinating!)
....I feel good about my work space and can easily show another
person how to use my system if ever I need office help.
22
PRIORITY VS. PAY-OFF ACTIVITIES
vs.
Priorities are defined as “something to be given prior attention." Prior
is defined as “preceding in order of importance”. Therefore Priority
Activities are the things we actually put first in our lives….the things we
actually do each day.
From this we can see, for example, that when a mother or father puts
time with their children as a priority in their day, the care and nurturing
of their children is a priority activity in their lives. The pay-off will be a
stronger family, more stable and well adjusted children.
Our present jobs may be a priority activity and the pay-off will be a
paycheck that can cover our needs for food, shelter, clothing and so on.
(Hopefully , some personal satisfaction is a pay-off too.) Obviously, we
often are doing some juggling in making decisions as to how to prioritize
the use of our time.
What if owning and running your own company became a priority? In the
Shaklee usiness, prioritizing 10-12 hours per week to meeting with
others to find Key Leaders, taking time to train, doing in-home
presentations, etc. can pay off in having more friend and family
time and more money to stabilize your economic picture.
Take some time to go over each day of the week and how you spend
your time. Could you make 10-12 hours per week a Priority Activity to
grow your own business? What could the pay-offs be?
……What is your dream?
……Are your present Priority Activities moving you
toward the attainment of that dream?
……How do you see your Shaklee/AirSource helping
to fulfill that dream?
