Minimum qualifi cations:• Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential • Valid Onsetter’s and Blasting Certifi cates are
essential
Job-specifi c experience and requirement:• 1-3 years’ working experience as a Banksman/
Onsetter is essential • Working exposure to a vertical shaft environment
is essential• Valid Medical Certifi cate or be medically fi t in
order to obtain such a certifi cate
Duties and responsibilities:The successful candidate will be expected to: • Install swing barricades and sets of rails in an
underground workplace
• Install and remove pipes and accessories • Construct underground ladder-ways • Clear blockages from shaft ore passes • Prepare conveyances for shaft examination and
repairs • Receive, handle, store and issue explosives and
accessories at workplaces • Transport explosives and accessories by means of
rolling stock • Load and remove rolling stock and load and
unload persons into/from shaft conveyances • Load long material into shaft conveyances• Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area • Conduct on-the-job training and coaching

Rustenburg – School has closed and the holi-days have started. Many families are going on a well-deserved break. However, many kids will be staying at home over this holiday while their parents have to work. Fortunately the Wee Care project will be hosting their annual Children-week in Karlienpark.Every year, during the holidays in July, the team from G-om/ Wee Care choose to spend their time with around 150 – 200 children from Karlienpark. The Children are between the ages of 5 and 18, and rather than spending the days in the street or at home, they can join in a massive 5 day so-cial event where they can learn new skills, have a meal, make new friends and spend the days in peace (as much peace as can be expected in a group of 200 children).The Wee Care group also teach the children the gospel as Linda Grobler, chairperson explained; “We do this against the backdrop of the holy gospel and trying to leave them with a bit more hope and enthusiasm for life.”The Wee Care projects are solely dependent on donations, goodwill and the support of the community and companies in Rustenburg. They could still use your help!Feeding 200 children (we can only assume is a logistical nightmare), takes great coordination and keeping 200 stomachs full will take a lot of meals, juice boxes and sandwiches. All of which have to be purchased and prepared.If making meals is a too daunting task, they still need several items for the children that you might actually have laying around the house! Here are a few things you might have: • Things that ev-ery child can turn into a priceless treasure with a little imagination: any old gift wrapping paper, • empty containers, cans or boxes, • paper rolls and cereal boxes, • scraps of material or rope, • decorative lint, • little trinkets such as beads or buttons that can be used to decorate our crafts.Should you feel to contribute in any way, please contact Linda Grobler at 083-292 5654, Marieta Herbst at 084-620 2251 or Hendie Grobbelaar at 083-455 3291.
