ThankyouChief Suhr!
On behalf of all of the officersassigned to CentralStation, I would like to thank Chief Suhr for hisleadership and for his34 yearsof service intheDepartment. I first met Chief Suhr whenhe was aSergeant and came to my academy class24 yearsago to make a presentationregarding narcotics. At thetime, he wasassigned to the NarcoticsDetail. A couple
of yearslater, Chief Suhr was a newly promotedLieutenant and I wasfortunate to work for himfor twoyearsasanofficer assigned to MissionStation. Yearslater, whenI wasa Lieutenant in2004, he asked me towork for himin the OperationsBureau. He was thentheDeputy Chief of Operationsand asked me to developthe OperationOutreachProgramasthe Department’sliaisonwiththe City onall homelessissues. To thisday,we still have officersassigned to addresshomelessnessand outreach. WhenChief Suhr was made Chief in2011, I wasassigned to the UrbanArea SecurityInitiative handling Homeland Security Grant Fundingand planning for America’sCup. Later, I wastransferred to the Police Academy and thento thisincredible assignment at Central Station.
I ampersonally grateful for hismentorship over all theyearsand I wishhimthe very best inretirement. Pleasesee the attached website link congratulating himonallhisyearsof service to the City and County of SanFrancisco.
We lookforward to working withChief Chaplinwho Ihave knownmost of my career. He hasbeenoutstanding in all of his assignments. Chief Chaplincomesto the job witha lot of credibility fromtheofficersand the community. Asan organization, we willcontinue to move forward!

Beginning Saturday, OfficerTomCunnanewill be assigned to the Market Street corridor. Thisisa newassignment and he will be responsible for highvisible patrol fromStuart to 3rd Street, addressing crime,quality of life, providing resourcesto the homelessand making sure we are visible to addressproblems.

MeetingSchedule Change
I would like to apologize for the last minute community meeting change onThursday, May 19, 2016. Ourmessage to the community was abrupt. The Russian Hill Neighborscalled a community meeting that previousMonday and because of a scheduling conflict, I canceled Thursday’smeeting in lieuof Monday’sRussian Hillmeeting. I amplanning another meeting to discusscrime in Russian Hill. If youare interested, please send meanemail. I thank youfor your partnership and our worktogether.
ReportingCrime
Please continue to phone the police and report crime. We need your assistance. Lately, the stationhasreceived calls for service where the community isasking for police assistance and are saying that I said to
call the station. Please call 911 inanemergency or 415-553-0123 ina non-emergency. A call to the stationisonly if youwould like to speak withanofficer because youhave a question. Calling the stationwill delayyour response for anofficer.
RussianHill Neighbor’sEvent
There will be a RussianHill Neighborsevent for childrenonSaturday from10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thisisameet and greet funevent. I will be attending along withofficersfromCentral Station. I hope to seeyourthere.
