SFHA works to lead, represent and support housing associations and co-operatives throughout Scotland.

2015/16 promises continued challenges to our sector. Resources remain under pressure arising from welfare cuts, and associations and co-operatives have to balance the contradictory demands of doing more with less. Our sector strives to meet increasingly exacting requirements to maintain and manage our existing stock in the context of the various funding pressures facing individuals and organisations. With support from Scottish Government, our members seek to add to the supply of new affordable homes, and to meet rising demand. Vulnerable people still need the support of social landlords who do what they can to enable individuals and communities to be resilient.

Our work promotes and protects the interests of the sector, by articulating the views of members and by supporting members with the tools, information and guidance they need to help them meet the needs of individual tenants and prospective tenants.

The support of affiliate bodies and all types of associates is invaluable to the work of SFHA.

what a few Of Our assOCiates say...

The Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens joined as an associate member of the SFHA in December 2014. We support and promote community gardens across Scotland and joined as an associate member to develop better links with Housing Associations who are showing interest in how they can work with local communities to improve the places where their tenants live. The SHFA has been helpful in promoting our work through the daily e-bulletin and in their members magazine. We hope to continue our connection with the SFHA to help develop and deliver resources and events for community gardens and housing associations across Scotland. Roz Corbett, Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens.

NorDan UK Ltd has partnered with the SFHA for a number of years and this allows us to promote our high performance Scandinavian timber window and door products to the affordable housing market in Scotland. We value the support network within the SFHA and in particular the ability to attend conferences and exhibitions. Annually we attend the Development, Annual and the Property Maintenance Conferences. These three conferences give us the opportunity to exhibit and feature our products and meet with the decision makers within the housing associations. We see this as an invaluable opportunity for our organisation in an extremely competitive market place to showcase our products and service. Being a Commercial Associate member has been a very worthwhile experience for NorDan and we would not hesitate to recommend this to any prospective organisations looking to become members. Ian Henny, NorDan UK

LHC, as a not-for-profit, specialist housing refurbishment and renovation procurement consortium for registered social landlords, has found its relationship with the SFHA to have been essential in helping it understand the Scottish social housing environment and develop and expand its presence in Scotland. LHC brings technical expertise in its field to help social landlords procure effectively and efficiently. By working with and using the communication channels of the SFHA, which has an excellent relationship with its members, LHC as a Commercial Associate, has been able to rapidly grow its business in Scotland. Clive Feeney, LHC

breakfasteventsNew for 2015-16 Early morning breakfast events kick-start the day with opportunities for learning, idea sharing, lively debate and networking - all in time to be back in the office before 10.30 am.

All SFHA Associates are invited to put forward a 500 word proposal for an inspiring business breakfast event aimed at housing organisations. Our aim is to provide a platform for all associates to raise their profile in a cost effective way and help create a calendar of exciting breakfast events.

The breakfast events are held bi-monthly in the SFHA office. Pastries are served at 8.30am, with presentations by one or more guest speakers from 9.00am to 10.00am. The Business Development team will consider all proposals, however, due to availability, they will develop and scope the ones that have potential to attract and benefit members.

The breakfasts provide an ideal opportunity to network in a relaxed and informal setting andregularly attract around 20-30 attendees from member housing associations.

site VisitsExclusive for all SFHA AssociatesWe appreciate and understand that not all products and services can be demonstrated easily via traditional communication channels. Sometimes the best way to discover the potential of a product or service is to see it in person on a site visit.

If this is of interest, we are pleased to invite you to submit a 500 word proposal for a site visit that will attract SFHA member organisations to come along. Our aim is to provide a platform for associates to raise their profile in a cost effective way and help create a calendar of exciting commercial activities.

The Business Development Team will consider all proposals and scope out ones that have potential to attract and benefit members.
