    The dry air drifted lazily across the fields, creating gentle waves in the tall grass The

    wind softly rattled the sh!tters on the old ho!se "solated and no#le it stood as a #eacon of the

    dream that drove $harlotte for the ma%ority of her life The dream to find a h!s#and, #!ild and

    home, and have children & #ea!tif!l vision t!rned to ash in moments 'he let the roc( dro) and

    slowly #ac(ed away, her #reath coming in great heaving so#s 'lowly she colla)sed #ac( onto

    the hot gro!nd, #ac( coming to a rest against the solid wo!ld of her home *ision o#sc!red #y

    tears and so!nd hidden #y her own ang!ish she retreated to within her mind

    +What have " done she wondered to herself .n#idden the answer came to her, +The

    only thing yo! co!ld The right thing This tho!ght seemed wrong, o!t of )lace What she had

    %!st done was not right "t was not moral "t wasn/t even h!man 'he co!ld see her )reacher in

    her mind/s eye, a large #lac( man with a hard gaze and strong words 'he co!ld remem#er him

    giving a sermon on the si0th commandment as if it was %!st yesterday +Tho! shall not m!rder

    he said in his )racticed and charismatic manner his voice echoing across the large room, +B!t

    what is it to m!rder &ccording to the laws of man, to m!rder is to wrongf!lly end the life of

    another thro!gh either )remeditated or )assionate means owever, what is god/s word on

    m!rder e )a!ses for effect to allow the )arish time to thin( and find their own answers

    )acing slow #ac( and forth as if st!dying his floc( +3or the answer we m!st t!rn to scri)t!re "f

    we t!rn o!r attention to 0odi!s twenty-two two and three, we can see that if a thief is ca!ght

    #rea(ing in and is str!c( so that he dies, the defender is not g!ilty of #loodshed owever, if it

    ha))ens after s!nrise, he is g!ilty e slams his hands down !)on the )odi!m to em)hasize his

    ne0t )oint, +&s can #e seen, it is m!rder if yo! commit to a co!rse of action that ends in

    someone/s death when neither yo! nor yo!r family are at ris( "f the )er)etrator wishes to

    commit s!ch a crime as theft, it is immoral to resort to m!rder

    o, what she did was not moral What she had committed was as evil as any action that

    co!ld #e dreamt #y man "t was after all little more than #ase theft that had #ro!ght her to this

    moment, gas)ing #eneath the #lazing s!n as the #lood slowly dried !)on her arms 6et even

    tho!gh it was evil, she co!ld not #ring herself to #elieve that it was not right When the item of

    theft was so im)ortant she co!ld not #elieve that the life of the +man who lay #efore her wo!ld

    o!tweigh its im)ortance er son had to #e worth more than that

    'ha(ily, she #egan to rise from her misery 'ha(ing the d!st from her dress she cast a

    single meaningf!l loo( #ac( at where the monster lay 'he co!ld hardly #elieve that it had come

    to this 7ar( !sed to love her so m!ch, that it still made her heart sing %!st to thin( a#o!t it o,

    that wasn/t tr!e, it co!ldn/t #e 'he !sed to #elieve that 7ar( loved her #!t after he #ecame

    s!ccessf!l at his %o# it was clear that it was %!st an act 'he was always %!st a thing to him

    &nother sym#ol of s!ccess and )ros)erity that he had ac8!ired One that he had o!tgrown

    "t all #egan a few months ago, with the #irth of their son 'he (new that her a))earance

    had s!ffered for the )regnancy, #!t little did she realize %!st how it had effected the monster 'he

    had learned that he had #een having an affair & +m!t!al friendshi) grown more as he said "t

    had h!rt so m!ch at the time to learn that one of the central feat!res of her life had sim)ly left

    her li(e so m!ch trash 6et, she was willing to move )ast it, to contin!e on with her life &fter all,

    what was a marriage when she had her own little so!l to care for and raise 'he sho!ld have

    (nown that the #astard wo!ldn/t let her even have that & fact she learned too late to sto) When

    they finalized the divorce, the monster made it clear that he was going to #e ta(ing c!stody 3!ll

    and com)lete c!stody 'he co!ld have fo!ght it, #!t she (new that the his )osition in the

    comm!nity wo!ld ma(e it a f!tile gest!re at #est

    verything %!st came to a #oil a few ho!rs ago when, in a last ditch effort she #egged on

    her hand and (nees in the dirt for him to let her have at least )artial c!stody of her child The

    demon had merely la!ghed at that, smiling in his oh so handsome way, teeth flashing in the s!n

    +$harlotte, he said his tone light, +6o! (now " can/t have yo! aro!nd anymore O!r relationshi)

    is over, yo! need to move on 9o #ac( to yo!r home and #!ild a new life e )a!sed #efore

    t!rning his tone growing more serio!s, +ow go )ac( yo!r things dear, " have a new ho!semate

    to welcome tomorrow

    &s he t!rned to wal( #ac( to the ho!se, rage overcame her 9ra##ing a shar) roc( she

    la!nched herself at him, h!rt and anger overcoming all com)assion and mercy she had er

    world dissolved into )ain and #lood as she #l!dgeoned the thing that !sed to #e her h!s#and

    'he (new now that her life was over 'he co!ld not remain here 'he )ro#a#ly co!ldn/t

    even remain in the co!ntry They wo!ld find o!t a#o!t his death 'he (new that someone wo!ld

    come loo(ing, and even if she hid it she wo!ld #e fo!nd o!t Briefly she considered merely

    t!rning herself into the a!thorities What she did was wrong and on some level she (new she had

    to )ay for it owever, she co!ldn/t sim)ly a#andon :ohnny to the world witho!t a father or a

    mother o, she wo!ld have to flee if she wanted him to grow !) (nowing his )arents

    With steel in her heart she ret!rned to the ho!se, cleaning off the remnants of the monster

    from her )erson #efore )ac(ing her and :ohnny/s worldly )ossessions as well as all the cash and

    cards she co!ld Loo(ing at it, her life was so meager, %!st #arely filling two s!itcases These she

    loaded into 7ar(s/s new car Then she loaded :ohnny into the car than(f!l that he had #een

    slee)ing d!ring the entire ordeal #efore clim#ing into the car herself $ran(ing it into gear she

    too( the first ste) into the new life she had fo!nd, morality #e damned
