When you first load an image, PhotoDonut calculates the preview scale to fit your image into the window. What you see is a scaled-down version of the full render, but you can zoom into it, even during the render. At first, the preview scale is set to 1:1 so if you start to zoom in now, you will discover new details. You can change the preview scale in the Settings window/Canvas setup (see below) !

Note: The preview picture always renders in real time. !Tip: In the menu bar you have the following options (listed from left to right) Zoom out/

Fit to window / 1:1 / Zoom in. You can zoom in and out using your mouse wheel. !The preview image always changes, it depends on which layer is active (highlighted), so

you can always see the current effect, or what happened on that specific layer: !!!!!

!Rename: Click into the name box, rewrite it and click Enter !!When opening the first image of a new project, the canvas size is automatically set

to its Image size. The next images added will not change the canvas size, they will be put on the canvas as determined by the first image. This is not necessarily what you may want, so you can change the following size properties:

Set the canvas size to the image size: This allows it to fit perfectly on the canvas, with

no background showing underneath, and no part of the image hidden from view. Fit the image to the canvas: The longer edge of the image will touch the border of the

canvas. The whole image is visible in the maximum possible size, but on the shorter edges the canvas will be visible.

Cover the canvas with the image: The shorter edge of the image is long enough to hide the canvas. Parts of the image will be outside of the canvas (and will appear hidden underneath it), but the whole canvas will be covered by the image. This is a very good setting for textures. !

!Edit/Retouch: Takes you into the Freehand Painting Module (Read more about the

Painting module here.) !Resize: A pop-up window appears, where you can resize you image (Read the tutorial

image here as well by clicking on it. !Pre-processing: You can change the properties of the original image here: resize,

rotate/flip and mirror it, or play with the brightness/contrast, saturation and gamma. Optimize, enhance the image before adding a style on it. This can have a positive affect on your final result.

!Post-processing styles: After applying a style to your image, the style’s name and

properties (if it has any exported) will appear in the right-hand pane. If you click on the style’s name in the Images & Layers pane, you can see its properties below, in the Settings pane. Applying a style to your image may require an adjustment to its properties to best fit your picture. This may include properties such as brush types, brush sizes, line sizes, number of strokes, etc. Moving the sliders now automatically and immediately updates the preview image. !

Move the sliders to obtain the desired result. When you're done, click OK. The image renders with the new properties. !

Note: Some styles have no exported properties which make them unmodifiable. In this case, you will see: “This style has no properties”. !
