Setting up your Zoom account for Students
1. Go to https://umassboston.zoom.us/
2. Click “Sign In”
3. Next, enter your UMB credentials (UMB email and password)
4. You will be prompted to confirm that your email address is
correct. If correct, click “Confirm your email address”
5. Zoom will then send you an email to activate your account
6. Log into your UMB email at www.webmail.umb.edu
Sign into your UMB email with your UMB email address and
password
7. You will see an email from Zoom to activate your account.
If you had previously signed up for a free Zoom account you will
receive an email asking you to Switch to the new account.
8. Click on the email from Zoom. If you are signing up for Zoom
for the first time click “Activate Account”.
If you had previously signed up for a free Zoom account click
“Switch to the new account”. Then go to step 10.
9. If activating your Zoom account for the first time you will
next be prompted to choose a sign in method. Choose “Sign in with
SSO”.
Your Zoom account will then be created and you will see your
Zoom profile page.
10. If switching to the new account from a previous account.
Click “I Acknowledge and Switch”.
Once your account has been “switched successfully”, click “Sign
in to Profile Page”.
Your Zoom account will then be created and you will see your
Zoom Profile page.
Downloading the Zoom Desktop Application
It is critical to log into your Zoom account via the Desktop App
if your professor is planning to utilize Pre-Assigned Breakout
Rooms during class, or if your professor has required
authentication to join the meeting.
If you are not able to download the Zoom desktop application,
you can log into your Zoom account online at
https://umassboston.zoom.us/ , or on the Zoom mobile app.
1. Go to https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting
2. Download and install the first option “Zoom Client for
Meetings”.
3. After the Zoom Desktop Application has been installed, open
the app and click “Sign In”.
4. Next, click “Sign in with SSO”.
5. When prompted, enter “umassboston” into the box for company
domain. Then click Continue.
6. If prompted, Click “Open Zoom Meetings”.
If not, click “Launch Zoom”.
7. You are now signed into the Zoom desktop application. To
confirm this, you can check the icon in the upper left-hand corner
for your profile picture or initials.
8. Stay up to date with the latest version of Zoom by clicking
the profile icon and then “Check for Updates”, or download the
latest update here.
Zoom Mobile Application
1. Zoom mobile app can be downloaded on both Android and iPhones
by searching for Zoom in Google Play or the App Store.
2. Follow the same steps as signing into the desktop
application.
a. Click “Sign in”
b. “Sign in with SSO”
c. Enter “umassboston” for the company domain
d. You will next be prompted to sign in using your UMB email and
password
e. After entering your credentials, you may be prompted to click
“Launch Zoom”. Click if prompted, if not, the app will reload.
f. You are now signed into the Zoom mobile app.
