sessions Because live music is just that much better. 1: Southern Souls www.southernsouls.ca My new found love. Probably one of the better ones, sound quality wise. But your ears are better judges than my words, so give er a listen. (And it’s a Canadian site - BONUS!) Noteworthy: Rows of Houses/ Leaves, Trees, Forest // Dan Mangan 2: La Blogothéque www.blogotheque.net If quantity is your thing, this site is where it’s at. La Blogothéque has the largest selection of sessions compared to all of the other ones I’ve seen. I will admit, I was a little heartbroken when the site turned 100% French, because now I can’t read anything on it. Noteworthy: Awake My Soul // Mumford and Sons (ft. Johnny Flynn) 3: Big Ugly Yellow Couch www.biguglyyellowcouch.com Remember that children’s TV show called “The Big Comfy Couch”? Well, this is like the modern-day version of the show, with awesome bands. Since you will never have a real band play in your living room, watch these sessions, and pretend. Noteworthy: Sun of a Gun // Oh Land 4: Daytrotter www.daytrotter.com This site has a session for every single indie band you can imagine. The site doesn’t do many video sessions, but music is mostly for your ears (not your eyes) anyway. They also have an artist who sketches every single band too! Noteworthy: Creature Fear // Bon Iver 5: Black Cab Sessions www.blackcabsessions.com The name says it all. These sessions are filmed in a real, moving black cab. Up close and personal, just the way you like it. With bands like Peter Bjorn and John to Bombay Bicycle Club, you can’t go wrong.
