Rosen Elected IFC President Larry Rosen, Interfraternity representative from Sigma Alpha -Mu, was recently elected to pre - side over the I-F Council for the coming year. Pleasant mannered, l.arry, a chemistry major, divides his time between the academics, tiie humanities, and I-F Council. He has been actively engaged in I-F Council since he was a sopho - more. Larry was one of the initial starters of the now famous Greek Weekend. Through his interest on council, he helped organize the I-F Glee Club which recently per - formed brilliantly at the Winter Music Festival. He w'as chairman of the Glee Club at the time. In the past he has been Historian and chairman of the Rules Com- mittee. Mis platform for the future was built on that of past president, ^laury Kring, who was a strong advocate of scholarship not only among fraternity men but also pledges. Larry intends to hold a successful Greek Weekend this term. Presently he is secretary-treas- urer of the Junior Class. L a r r y ’s plans include graduate work in chemistry upon graduation in 1960. Registration for Bus Ad Day will be handled by Len Schafer. The publicity throughout the school and the Philadelphia area will be headed by Herb Anmuth. Fred Straub is in charge of the program committee Avhich will present the events of the day in an original and interesting form. The lunch- eon for the Bus Ad speakers and hosts will be arranged by Phyllis Farkas. Assisting Jack Willis di- rectly as assistant chairmen are Jack Pritts and Dick Rehberg. IMannin^ and Thought The planning and original thought behind this year’s Bus Ad Day will draw wide attention to our school from the other schools and surrounding areas. Not all the plans have yet been revealed. The grape-vine has it that a spec - tacular event is in the planning. Word will be released to the Triangle as soon as possible. In the meantime, the plans thus far promise a stimulating and enjoy- able Bus Ad Day for this year. How large should a col- lege class be? Many of D r e x e l ’s classes number 30, some even 35. This is certainly a handicap to an instructor who is trying to teach a first class course. W e ’r e paying first class rates. I sometimes get the feeling we’re being cheated. RICHARD P. BROWN El9drt and Rubin Perforin Before Crowds at Sunnybrook, Miini l<YonrIi About the Prom Next week, April 17, the Spring Prom will be held at Sunnybrook Ballroom and, as usual, the suc- cess of the Prom will depend on you, the student body. Dancins Pleasure For your dancing pleasure, the Spring Prom will feature the “Sophisticated Swing” of Les and Larry Elgart. The FJlgart en- semble is undoubtedly the fore- most name in dance bands. In addition, their music is new, fresh and listenable. For the jazz fans, the Tiger- town Five featuring Stan Rubin will appear at intermission. Stan and the boys have appeared at Carnegie Hall on the same bill with Satchmo and Ella. In ad- dition, they completed a command^ performance at the wedding of Grace of Philadelphia and the Prince of Monaco. More* at Lodge For 90% of the student body, this should be more than enough, but there is more. After a good night’s sleep, the entire student l)ody will assemble at the Drexel Lodge for an afternoon of Dixie- land. The festivities will begin about 2 o’clock and last ’till the cows come home. at Prom; April 17 Connie MadI Sibby Merkel About f/ie Queen This year you will pick a Queen. So let’s get out and vote. Class dues cards will be on sale in the Court at the vot- ing booth and in Miss Hons office, l»eau<y and Activifie.s I he candidates this year were chosen both for their beauty and for their activities around Drexel, Some iiave been queens represent- ing other organizations and some have not. Remember, to attend the Prom and to vote for your Queen you must have a class dues card! Fulbright Awarded to Dick Frankel Cornerstone Fitted Monday by Linda Balls Culminating a college career filled with outstanding academic, institutional, and fraternal lead- ership, senior civil engineer Rich- ard Frankel has attained an all- time high for Drexel undergrad- uates. His being awarded a Ful- ui'ight scholarship marks a first of this type in the Institute’s history. Dick’s award takes him to the 1 echnological University at Delft, Holland where he will study water supply engineering and hydraulics on the graduate level for one ac- ademic year. l^ive of the Institute’js officers '''ere interviewed and had the fol- 1‘^'ving to say regarding this un- IM’e c e d e n te d h o n o r : •^eau Bowman, himself an ex- Pei’t in Civil Engineering, stated that such an undertaking is an excellent opportunity for students want to advance in the field. •^1'. Creese expressed heartiest ‘ongratuhUions to Dick. He com- •nended D i c k ’s thorough job of !*• e p a r a ti o n and his persuasive statements in applying for this “This should act as u tiiiiulant for other students to ‘‘Ite advantage of ever-increasing Dick Frankel opportunities for professional technical studies abroad,’’ added the Presiilent. Dean Young, a Fulbright Ad- visor, stated that she was “de- lighted that he got the award; Dick is an outstanding young man and thoroughly deserves It.” Dr. Bonnell had this to say, “We are often tempted to measure a successful college year in terms of championships won on the gridiron, the basketball court, or the soccer field. How much more significant it is to win champion- ships in those endeavors which are directly related to our basic educational purposes! As a scholar, a responsible campus “citizen,” and as a friendly stu- dent leader, Dick Frankel has demonstrated the kind of cham- pionship form which truly de- serves recognition in this Ful- bright Scholarship.” Dean Toombs aptly summed up Drexel’s feelings when he stated, “The F’'ull)right Scholarship award caps a college career of real growth and achievement for Dick Frankel. A wide range of inter- ests, mature judgment, Imagina- tive leadership, and a ready ac- ceptance of re8i)onsibility have marked his efforts in many phases of campus life. With Dick on this new road of advanced study go the good wishes of his classmates, the respect of the faculty and the high regard of his personal friends.” On April 13, Drexel will com- memorate the nearing of the com- pletion of the new library building by laying the cornerstone in which will be placed a facsimile of the first catalogue of the Li- brary Company printed by Ben- jamin Franklin in 1741. Library Company, the oldest library organization in the coun- try, is participating in the corner- stone laying of the newest library in the country, the Drexel Library. Com- Wolf, Representing the Library l>any will be Mr, Edwin ____ , librarian of the organization, who will be guest speaker in the Camp- bell Auditorium, Participating in the ceremonies beginning at 12:50 pm in the Court next Monday, will be Albert J. Nesbitt, chairman of D r e x e l ’s board of trustees. Dr, Creese, Dean Harvey, Bernard Litvak, Pennsylvania chairman of Na- tional Library Week, and Mr Wolf. ICG Conference Slated for Harrisbura Thiu T..t ------------ -- r, ______ ^ This year the Intercollegiate Conference on Government is again planning to attend the state wide convention at Harrisburg af- ter a very successful tour at the regional convention, which was held at Immaculata College. Last term nine members of I.C.G. attended the Regional Con- ference hosted by the chapter of the organization at Immaculata College. These nine politicians managed to have six bills passed at the general assembly of the mock state senate. This evening four I.C.G. mem- bers, Elliott Caplan, Harry South- ern, Paul McFadden, and Rob Burnett, accompanied by the club’s advisor Dr. Seltzer, will at- tend a program on citizenship at the University of Pennsylvania. (Governor emeritus, Theodore R. McKeldin (Maryland) will be prin- cipal speaker at the two-day meet - ing. Next week 25 I.C.G. members, again accompanied by Dr. Seltzer, will go to the state wide conven- tion to be held in the State Capitol Building at Harrisburg. This mock state congress will last from Thursday evening until Saturday afternoon. The group feels con- fident that they will be as success- ful at Harrisburg as they were at Immaculata.

It Is Up to YouAgain this term the students will be asked to select their candidates for class of'

ticers and Men's Student council, for the coming year.

Just exactly‘ what does this mean to the average student. It sterns evident the

majority of the students feel, “ here come those damn glory hounds a;^ain, you know, the ones that want another activity to put beside their name at graduation.”

Ask yourself this question. If these men have an attitude of this nature, why and how did they acquire it? W hat has put them into a conditic«j like this—or are thy really like this, or is this something you heard from the ^uy who sits next to you in class? Is it because probably 90 per cent of the student body, just like you, doesn’t care or have the interest to be concerned about student activities, but take great delight in offering anywhere from one to a thousand solutions to any question you may ask?

Well, if you think this is the case, what can an individual do about it? plenty.

W ith class election coming up here is the best chance yet to express your interest, if there is any, and to do something about the representatives that did nothing last year. This term the Triangle will be glad to print platforms or statements of those

seeking ofHce in class elections.

It is shameful if we have a repeat of the 1 2 'man vote for officers of the senior class

again this year, or any year's class officers.

But if you don't even vote, how can a person have the audacity to complain about

conditions concerning students at Drexel?

I'm sure M en’s Student Council would welcome anyone to listen to a typical meet' ing so you may alone decide upon its merits and abilities. But to sit back and com- plain just exemplifies your ignorance and downright complacency of the situation.
