Ongoing Project Support

You have other stuff you’ve done? We want to host it. We’ll reference to your site, we’ll connect you with more organizations and more talented individuals. We’re here to help you and advocate on behalf of film and tv production and management at Brown. We even host alumni video, for when you leave and want support from your old school.

The BTV Name

BTV has been a presence on campus since 1987, at one point the largest student group on campus, with over 300 members. The BTV name gives you preference with filming inside local businesses and around the Brown University campus.

WHAT’S THE PROCESS?

Production is no piece of cake, we’re warning you right now. It’s one of the most challenging things you can do out there. Film is such a collaborative medium that you need to always make sure your resources and talent are present and in good humor. Here’s how you start. This is mostly for series production.

1. Have an idea 2. Talk to us, read this sheet, agree to be a BTV production.  3. Use our resources to organize your production, set a timeline, rent equipment 4. Make the show! 5. Work with the release team to get your video in btv archives and to co‐publicize your premier 6. Co‐host the premiere with BTV (we just give a few words in the beginning, then it’s your show) 7. A week later, we air it on BTV and host it on our website. We ask that you allow a week for BTV

to harbor visits to watch your shows and other btv shows.  8. After one week, you may upload it online and spread it to the world! 9. From then on, we reference each other’s web pages and continue to work on projects.

For live shows, after step four of the previous process, you’re done, and we continually co‐publicize the show week after week.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN RETURN?

You didn’t think all of that was free, did you? Well you were mostly right. We just want a word at your premiere (because don’t you want other people to know how cool BTV is?) and for you to credit us properly in your videos so that way when you spread your videos around the world, people can know to watch other great videos by other Brown students at www.browntv.org. This is more of an honor system kind of thing. We do a lot here at BTV to make this all possible for you, so let’s be a team—even when you leave Brown. We’ll always be here for you. Will you be here for us?
