Luncheon Clubs Come along and meet new people over a two course lunch in a friendly and welcoming environment. All our luncheon clubs are open to everyone. All you need to do is call to book your lunch a week in advance for the Uppingham and Whissendine lunch clubs but you can turn up on the day for the Oakham lunch club.

New Horizons This friendly group meets just once a month and is open to widows, widowers and any single people over the age of 50, hoping to meet new people and make new friends. The group enjoy a packed programme of events and an annual outing. No booking is necessary just pop along and meet the group. Outings & Excursions Regular coach outings to places of interest such as gardens and historic houses, museums and exhibitions or there could be a trip to a retail park in the lead up to Christmas or to the seaside in summer. There is a pick up point in Oakham and in Uppingham. For more details contact Amanda Bellamy on 01572 822 171 Men in Sheds Our Men's Shed is a place for men to feel at home and pursue practical interests with a high degree of autonomy. Men in Sheds members share tools and resources to work on projects of their own choosing, at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. Our Sheds offer a place for skill-sharing and informal learning, individual pursuits and community projects. It’s a place of leisure where men come together to work.

Oakham Tea Dance Come along to learn some new dance moves, whether it is ballroom, sequence dancing, disco or jive! Refreshments are provided and members bring a plate of food to share with others half way through. There is also a free raffle and lovely music to listen to, if you do not feel like dancing. All ages welcome to join this very friendly group. No booking necessary.

Line Dancing Enjoy dancing? Then come along and meet these friendly groups in Oakham. No booking necessary, just turn up and join in.

Oakham Tai Chi This gentle exercise is suitable for all ages and ability, for both men and women. Tai Chi is a superb form of fitness which builds inner body strength enabling independent living for longer. Why not pop along to see what Tai Chi could do for you? No booking necessary.

Keep Fit Want to stay fit and healthy? We run two classes in Oakham each week which are suitable for all ages and abilities. Come and meet this friendly groups of ladies on a Monday or Thursday. No booking necessary.

Uppingham Indoor Bowls A very friendly group which meets once a week to enjoy indoor bowls. Feel free to pop along and join in. Suitable for beginners.

We welcome clients through assessment and referral through Rutland County Council, as well as those contacting us directly to

attend on a self funded basis.

Day Care Looking for something fun to get your parents or grandparents, why not pay for their fun day out. Our day care offers you or a member of your family the opportunity to socialise in a relaxed environment and participate in a wide range of activities and games. You are usually picked up early in the morning from your own home and spend the day at a centre, where a warm welcome awaits you along with some hot refreshments. A two course lunch is served around midday and is followed by more activities and music. At the end of the day, you are transported home by minibus.

Dementia Support Service Our Dementia Support service offers support for those living with dementia and their carers and actively promotes the wellbeing of those living with dementia through one to one support and group activities.

In partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support the service is available to anyone over the age of 18 who has been affected by cancer. Support is available at whatever stage of the cancer journey you are at.

Befriending Home Visits This essential service is available to any socially isolated elderly person with limited opportunities to leave their home. If you or a loved one feel lonely and would like a friend to drop by to visit you on a regular basis, then please contact Yvonne on 01572 770 324.

Uppingham Drop-in Café

If you are a carer or a cared for older person, please come along to our drop-in café to have a drink, a chat and, if you wish, take part in table top activities. The café gives you the opportunity to meet and chat to other carers and cared for people locally.

Macmillan Independent Support Service In conjunction with Macmillan Cancer Support we can offer support to older people who have been affected by cancer. We offer support, information and advice at the most appropriate time, help with accessing practical support to help the older person to remain living at home and signposting to other services.

Initial contact should be made with Ros or Karen on 0116 223 7370 or 0116 204 6440. Free Garden Service Have you been in hospital and unable to tend to your garden? Are you worrying about how you will cope when you are better? If so, help may be at hand.

Information & Advice Helpline Our helpline can provide free, independent and confidential information and advice for people over 50. This includes practical help, suggesting ways to solve difficulties and giving you the details of others who may be able to help. The helpline can give information and advice about any issues which affect your quality of life including welfare benefits, housing and property, money matters, family and personal matters, understanding personal budgets, leisure and social activities, your rights and local services.

Residential & Nursing Home Advisory Service If you are thinking about or planning a move into residential care either for yourself or a loved one, our impartial and confidential advisory service can provide advice on a range of issues including choosing a care home, being assessed by social services, paying for care, how your property and savings are affected and your entitlement to state benefits whilst in residential care.

One to One Tuition Working in partnership with Oakham School, we are proud to offer free weekly private tuition on a one to one basis, offering a more personalised programme of training to cover all your needs.

Bring your laptop or tablet with you and your very own tutor will teach you all you need to know, at a pace to suit your needs.

Free Digital Drop In If you are over 50 and would like some support with your laptop, tablet or smartphone - please pop in to Oakham library and a Digital Champion will be there to help and support you. For support in Uppingham, please call Amanda to book a volunteer Digital Champion to help you.

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland Charity Shop in Uppingham Offers a range of clothing, shoes, accessories and bric-a-brac for sale as well as an extensive range of good quality pre-loved books. The shop also boasts a superb coffee shop with a selection of cakes and pastries.

The shop, which opens Monday to Saturday from 9am until 4:30pm, with the coffee shop closing ½ hour earlier, can be found at 13 High Street East, Uppingham.
