LS Absorption Machine

With over 50% domestic market share, LS cable has provided heating, ventilating and air conditioning totalsolution to industrial and commercial filelds over 30 years. Now the company, specialized in absorption, centrifugal & GHP, now wants to share its leading technology with the global friends.

The LS Absorption Chillers have always been nation’s No.1 energy saving chillers, since the company hasconsidered R&D as frontier mover of all.

Features of LS Absorption Chillers

· Beneficial where cooling/heating demands are all year around by using diversified energy sources as Gas, Steam andHot water.

· Reduces operation cost in where electrical costs are high.

· Utilizing environmental safe, non chlorine mixture based refrigerant.

· Reduces green house effect by less using hydocarbon fuels as well as electricity.

Cooling water flows through the Absorber to theCondenser. The cooling water in the Condenser coolsdown the refrigerant vapor from the the Generator backinto refrigerant. The cooling water in the Absorber absorbsthe heat when the refrigerant vapor is absorbed by theabsorbent. The Generator heat the diluted solution by driving heatsource. The diluted solution releases the refrigerant vaporand becomes the concentrated solution. At the Condenser, the refrierant vapor which came fromthe Generator condensed by cooling water. The condensed refrigerant drops on the heat transfertubes of evaporator drops of the refriqerant evaporateon the tubes. The water through the heat transfer tubes ofevaporator is cooled by the latent heat of vaporized refrig-erant.The refrigerant vapor is absorbed on the heat transfertubes by absorbent from the Generator. The absorbentdiluted by refrigerant vapor goes to the Generator.

LS Absorption Machine

Single Effect Cycle

In case of the Single Effect Type Absorption Machine, allcondensation heat when the refrigerant vapor coming fromGenerator is cooled and condensed at the Condenser, isreleased in the cooling water. The Double Effect Type Absorption Machine is used thecondensation heat efficiency. The Generator section isdivided into a High Temperature Generator and a LowTemperature Generator. The refrigerant vapor produced bythe High Temperature generator is used to heat the LiBrsolution in the Low Temperature Generator in which thepressure(hence the boiling point) is lower. As mentioned in the Single Effect Type Machine, the refrig-erant vapor produced by the Low Temperature Generator issent to the Condenser to become liquid refrigerant. On theother hand, the refrigerant vapor produced by the HighTemperature Generator turns to water as it released heat tothe intermediate LiBr solution. This occurs inside the heattransfer tubes in the Low Temperature Generator. Therefrigerant vapor produced by both Low and High tempera-ture Generator turn to liquid refrigerant and mixed in theCondenser before returning to the Evaporator. In this step, the diluted solution is heated by driving heatsource and by the latent heat in the refrigerant vapor whichotherwise would be released into the cooling water. Thiscombination means a lower energy consumption of drivingheat source. Moreover, less heat being discarded into thecooling water translates into a small cooling water. Asshown above.

LS’s New PID Control

High Corrosion Resistance Designed HTG

·Due to new HTG design with smoke type tube andenlarged heat transfer surface, corrosion on partial hightemperature zone at HTG is relieved and the increasedheat flux fabricated additional efficiency factor which ledto energy saving. Also compact design allowed mini-mized number of connection joint which made machinewith higher durability and reliability.

High Performance of Purging System

·Newly designed injector typed, purging either at uppershell and lower shell, a new LS purging system, enabledless purging time and better purging performance.

Marine Hatch Type Water Box

·No need to cut or dissemble for tube cleaning or mainte-nance purposes, marine hatch typed water box allows anoperator to clean tubes in less time.

Refrigerant Re-Cycling Circuit

· A non evaporized refrigerant that is accumulated at thebottom, is once again pumped to uppershell for a storagein case of sudden cooling demand which can cause dryout in evaporator. Thanks to recycling refrigerant, a cool-ing water can be lowered as 19˚C.

· Also this circuit can supply refrigerant from refrigeranttank to evaporator when refrigerant is lacked in evapora-tor at part load and let the chiller run at low cooling watertemperature condition.

1. Local regulations regarding exhaust of direct-fired burnersmust be adhered to. These instructions shown are typicaland are not meant to supersede local codes in any way.

2. The steel stack should be lined on the interior surface toprotect the stack from corrosion due to moisture in theexhaust gas.

3. The fiue and stack must be heat insulated and providedwith a condensate drain.

4. Do not connect the flue to an incinerator stack.5. Place the top of the stack within a sufficient distance from

the cooling towers to prevent contamination.6. Provide a barometric draft regulator or damper if fluctua-

tions or downdraft in static pressure are expected insidethe flue. Some means of controlling the flue draft may benecessary to insure that proper combustion efficiency ismaintained at all times.

7. If a common stack is to be used, exhaust must be prevent-ed from floeing into the unit(s) that are not in operation.

8. The draft pressure at the flue flange should be designedfor a maximum negative pressure of-5mmH2O.

❋ GENERAL REMARK ON PIPE-LAYING WORK

For optimized control, LS Double-Effect Absorption Machine adopts PID control. As a combination of Proportional,Integral and Differential Control, PID Control allow better load tracing and faster response. PID action allows smoothcontrol by removing Off-Set and Hunting of chilled water outlet temp. which are demerits of Proportional action. Integralaction correct Off-Set automatically and Differential Action responses quickly against external influence. Comparing totypical chillers which are controlled by Proportional Control, microprocessor-controlled LS Absorption machine enables.

1. Constant Temperature control by removeing Off-Set of Chilled Outlet temperature. Therefore, LS Absorption Machine provide excellent process cooling solution in semiconductor, chemical, and pharmaceutical facili-ties and air conditioning solution in Intelligent Building.

2. Energy Saving because of lower gas consumption which is generated by the reduction of chilled water outlet temperature Hunting.3. Higher efficiency at partial load because the flow rate of absorbent solution is controlled by digital PID and Inverter.

Test Condition1. Chilled water outlet temp. : 7°C (Constant) 2. Cooling water inlet temp. : depends on out-air temp.3. Load/Cooling water inlet temp. : 100%/32°C, 50%/27°C, 30%/25°C

2. For pipe diameter , pipe connections, etc. refer to the mechanicallayout diagram. [OUTLINE]

3. The maximum operating pressure in the chilled, cooling and hotwater is 8Kg/cm2 G. (For LWM-W003-W005 5Kg/cm2 G is standard.)

4. Cincerning temperature control of cooling water, refer to anotherdiagram.[CONTROL OF COOLING WATER TEMPERATURE] (__ _ _ __)

5. Provide separate chilled, cooling and hot water pumps for eachabsorption machine.Flow rate of chilled, cooling and hot water should confirm to thespecifications.

6. Provide a bleeder in the cooling and hot water line for control ofcooling water quality.

7. Install a strainer having a mesh of or so.8. Provide the inlet and outlet piping for chilled, cooling and hot water

with the stop walve so that the piping can be cleaned easily.1) install thermometers and pressure guages at locations convernient for

servicing in the inlet and outlet water lines.

2) Install air vent valves for water lines at a position above the absorption

machine.

3) install drain valves for water lines at a Position bottom the absorption

machine, and then ectend them up to the ditch.

4) For chemical cleaning, install the stop valves for cleaning between the

unit and each stop walve at the inlet or outlet.

❋ GENERAL REMARK ON PIPE-LAYING WORK

Keep running a chilled water pump no.1,no.2 and an air conditioner continuouslyin order to protect freezing trouble during the dilution opreration.(about 15min.)

HOT WATER INLETHOT WATER OUTLET

The cooling water of an open-type recycling coolingtower lowers temperature of the cooling water usingvaporized latent-heat and is reused. In this case, thewater is evaporated and dissolved salts,Hardness materials, sulfate ion, etc. in the water willincrease. Namely, condensation phenomena of suchmaterials occurs in the water, and water quality will grad-

ually be degraded. As the water and air always come incontact with each other in the cooling tower, sulfurous acidgas, dust, sand, etc. in the atmos-phere will mix into the water, further degrading the waterquality. in the cooling water system, problems with waterare caused by these factors. Typical problems are corrosion, scales and slimes.

Control of Cooling Water

Ensure that the cooling water temperature does not fall more than10˚C below the design temperature. For example, if the coolingwater inlet temperature is 32˚C, ensure that the cooling watertemperature does not fall below 22˚C. During starting, however,a lower temperature is permissible until the machine reaches therated capacity.

1. Be sure to start and stop the fan by means of the cooling water thermostat.2. Cooling water thermostat setting value (When the cooling water inlet temp. is 32˚C) 22˚C and below ... off, 25˚C and above ... on
