ANNIVERSARY WISHES

Remembering Jesus’ Message of Divine Mercy…

St. Faustina Writes in her diary

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church …

“Forgiveness is at the heart of the message of Divine Mercy. We pray with confidence to God the Father, asking for His forgiveness and Mercy, as we realize our sinfulness… this out

pouring of God’s Mercy cannot be received as long as we have not forgiven those who have offended us. How can we love the God we cannot see, if we do not love the brother or sister we can see? Apostle of Divine Mercy manual.

“ ‘The Lord’s Prayer’- means that the prayer to our Father is taught and given to us by the Lord Jesus.” (ccc#2765)

“Now—and this is daunting—this outpouring of Mercy cannot penetrate our hearts as long as we have not forgiven those who have trespassed against us.” (ccc#2840)

It is with Joy that we announce the Upcoming wedding(s)

“Re-Humanizing Our Persecuted Brethren” Knowledge and Prayer Program at

Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church

The Multi Parish Respect Life Ministries is pleased to announce our April Knowledge and Prayer Program “Re-Humanizing our Persecuted Brethren.” Jeff Gard-ner, renowed humanitarian photographer, author and producer, from The Picture Christian Project, will present on Thursday, April 20th @ 7:00 PM at Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 14610 Will-Cook Road in Homer Glen. 708-645-0241. The use of powerful images and words is the main goal to educate our brothers and sisters in Christ. People are not just statistics or objects of a news story. Through photography and telling personal stories, they help to transform the persecuted from “something” back into a “someone.” Jeff Gardner is an award winning producer, published author, journalist and humanitarian photographer. He has worked in media for over a decade writing for a number of natural publications, producing a number of syndicated national radio programs and appeared on a number of national Catholic radio networks. Please join us for the very dramatic and moving presentation.

To Hear Thee More Clearly

In order to continue enriching lives through Parish Liturgies, a new Sound system for OLOP Church is needed and our Campaign is underway! The sound system is a major backbone of our liturgi-cal celebrations Including daily Masses, Sunday Litur-gies, Weddings, Baptisms, First Holy Communions, Confirmations, Funerals, Prayer Services, and many more. We pray that you will help us make this excit-ing vision a reality. As can be seen, we are almost to our goal, and we thank all of you who have thus far contributed. We would like to start this project right after Divine Mer-cy Sunday; however the Diocese requires that we have the complete $50,000 on deposit, and we need time to order the new equipment. If you have not contributed, please do so, or if you have and can, please consider increasing your donation. Once again thank you for your continued generosity in support of our parish. You may find envelopes in the back vestibule after Mass-es, or contact the Parish Office to make your generous

gift. Please make checks payable to: Our Lady of Peace and write

“Sound System” on the memo portion of the check. Thank you for your time, generosity, and prayers

regarding this matter.

Crusader Chronicles

March 26, 2017

SPRING BREAK Our Lady of Peace School will be on spring break starting on March 27th – March 31st. During this time, the school of-fice will not be open. School will resume on April 3rd. LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS The sixth graders did an outstanding job performing the Living Stations of the Cross on March 17th. It was nice to see so many parishioners there. It was very powerful. We hope that this production helped prepare you for Christ’s Resur-rection. STAFF SPOTLIGHT Name: Shannon Marie Carlson Malachuk DOB: 1/26/1977... yep, I'm 40!!! Home Turf: Bolingbrook (a 1 year plan is in the works to move closer to OLP) My favorite princess is Cinderella... my mom used to call me Shanderella!!! I love shopping...can never say no to a good bargain or to a fabulous pair of shoes!!! The Team Malachuk household LOVES sports... lacrosse is the newest discovery. Singing and dancing is a must - where do you think my boys got their Whip n Ney Ney moves from!!! I have 2 dogs, Pupcake the Boxer and Cowie the Boston Terrier. I drive what's known as the 'sticker mobile'... yes I let the boys put stickers all over the inside of the back windows - you should see my kitchen wall!!! I basically try to have a cheerful outlook on just about everything... life's too short so smile and enjoy :) I'm so happy to be a part of the OLP family. It's already been 3 fabulous years full of fun, new experiences, hard work and lots of love. I can honestly say that I'm living my dream... When I graduated from kindergarten (from St. Leonard in Berwyn) and walked on stage to receive my diploma, I was asked what I wanted to be when I grow up. My answer was 'a mom!!!' Thank you to my wonderful husband for making this dream come true. Ron and I have been married for 13 years and have been blessed with 3 energetic, loving little goofballs who go by the names of Logan (4th grade), Christian (2nd grade), and Gavin (1st grade). They are my world and I'm so fortunate to be such a big part of theirs, both at school and at home. I'm thankful for the opportunity that was asked of me to take on the role of lunch coordinator along with volunteering my time in the library, head classroom room mom, co-chairing last year's auction, running the OLP Fri night bowling league, praying together at the school Masses and working closely with those of you who are helping to mold 3 of my most valuable treasures... for all of this and more, I am forever grateful. As parents, one of the best decisions Ron and I have made was to send our boys to Our Lady of Peace. Team Malachuk looks forward to the many many years of faith, hope, learning and love that lies ahead as we embark on our journey with everyone here at OLP!!! MILITARY SCHOLARSHIPS Our school is blessed to have several children that come from military families. Two of these families were blessed this past school year to have half or all of their school fees and tuition paid for this past school year. The beautiful thing about these scholarships is that it comes from an anonymous donor. This donor wants military families to have the opportunity to have their children attend Our Lady of Peace School. We are finishing up the second year that military families at OLP have been blessed by this anonymous donor. I have recently heard from the donor family through a trust firm. They have agreed to give the same scholarships out again this coming school year. This is what an awesome tribute to a couple of our military families.

CONFIRMATION Congratulations to the school and religious education children that were Confirmed this past Thursday by Bishop Conlon. This is a very important sacrament because the child becomes an adult in the Catholic Church. Now that you are adults in the eyes of the church, please continue to be involved and build your relationship with God. REGISTRATION We have open registration for our school at this time for Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. If you are a new family to our school and have questions and/or would like a tour of our school, please call the school office (630-325-9220). We have a wonderful school and we love to show you around and tell you about the awesome things that take place here. Our school offers an atmosphere where our students are able to grow academically, physically, emo-tionally, and most importantly, spiritually. We challenge our students to do things that they didn’t think that they could do. We expect excellence because you do! STUDENT TRANSFER GRANT Our school offers a $1,000 grant the first year to any child (1st-7th grade) that transfers into our school. The child will receive a $500 grant in his/her second year. Besides the grade level restriction, the only other restriction is that the child is not transferring from a school in the Chicago Archdiocese or the Rockford or Joliet Diocese. Please contact the school office if you have any questions about this grant. FISH FRY Thank you to everyone that was able to make it this past Friday to our parish/school fish fry. It really shows how we can come together to create something really special. A special thank you goes to the Brunsen family for all of their hard work in putting this together.
