Description The air handling units VUT H EC ECO and VUT EH EC ECO are the fully-featured ventilation units that ensure air filtration, fresh air supply and stale air extract. During operation the extract air heat is transferred to the supply air stream by the highly efficient counter- flow plate heat exchanger. The units are used in ventilation and air conditioning systems installed in various premises. Due to high-efficient EC motors and expanded coun- terflow heat exchanger surface the energy saving pa- rameters of the ECO series units are the best on the market. All models are designed for connection to ø160, 200 and 250 mm round air ducts. Modifications VUT H EC ECO – model with a counterflow heat ex- changer, a bypass and EC motors. VUT EH EC ECO – model with a counterflow heat ex- changer, a bypass, EC motors and an electric heater. Casing Made of aluzinc, internally filled with 25 mm mineral wool heat- and sound-insulating layer. Filter The built-in panel G4 filters are used for extract and supply air filtration. Fans The units are equipped with high-efficient EC motors with an external rotor. These state-of-the-art motors offer the very best in en- ergy efficiency today. EC motors are characterised with high performance and optimum control across the entire speed range. The high efficiency (up to 90 %) is a definite advantage of EC motors. The 300 and 400 size units are equipped with constant flow fans with forward curved blades. These fans provide constant set air flow even in case of variable air resistance in the ventilation system, i.e. in case of clogged filters. The 900 size units are equipped with fans with back- ward curved blades. Heat exchanger The VUT H/EH EC units are equipped with a coun- terflow polystyrene heat exchanger. In the cold season the exhaust air heat is captured and transferred to the supply air stream which reduces the ventilation-generated heat losses. This can lead to formation of condensate that is col- lected in a special drain pan and discharged into the sewage system. In the warm season the ambient air heat is transferred to the exhaust air stream. This allows for a considerable reduction of the supply air temperature which, in turn, reduces the air condi- tioning load. The VUE H/EH EC units are equipped with a counter- flow heat exchanger with an enthalpy membrane at the core. In the cold season the exhaust air heat and moisture are transferred to the supply air stream through the enthalpy membrane reducing the heat losses from ventilation. Consequently, it is the ambient air heat and moisture transferred to the exhaust air stream through the en- thalpy membrane in the warm season. This allows for a considerable reduction of the supply air temperature and humidity which, in turn, reduces the air conditioning load. Heater The VUT EH EC ECO units are equipped with an electric heater for additional supply air heating downstream of the heat exchanger. The VUT H EC ECO have no built-in electric heater but it can be ordered separately and integrated into the unit if necessary. Bypass The unit is equipped with a bypass damper which is opened automatically in summer time to cool down a room with cool outside air. For the models with an electric heater the bypass damp- er is also used for the heat exchanger freezing protec- tion. Control and automation The unit incorporates an integrated control system with a multifunctional control panel with a sensor display. The scope of delivery contains a 10 m cable for connec- tion of the unit to the control panel. One of the two freeze protection algorithms can be se- lected to prevent the heat exchanger freezing: If the unit is equipped with an electric heater the by- pass damper is opened according to temperature sen- sor readings and the cold intake air passes by the heat exchanger and is warmed up to set temperature in the heater. Synchronously, the heat exchanger surface is warmed up with extract air flow. After a freezing danger is over the bypass damper closes and the unit reverts to the normal operation mode. If the unit is not equipped with an electric heater the supply fan is turned off to let warm air heat up the heat exchangers. After that the supply fan is turned on and the unit re- verts to normal operation.
