THE WATER PROJECT Praying, Planning, Action School has started once again for the students of Western and our Chi Alpha leadership team is hard at work at being the presence of Christ to the campus. Our days are filled with... moving students in, worshipping creatively, passing out cookies, sharing Jesus, holding Mario Wii Olympic tournaments, hanging over 1000 posters, starting small groups, creating video announcements, folfing, delivering popcorn, backpacking 8 miles in to camp, having conversations over coffee, early morning prayer meetings, having water balloon fights, sharing that Jesus is accessible to all, handing out 250+ root beer floats, speaking at RA training retreats, speaking at football chapels, raising $$ and awareness, going on walks, counseling and introducing ourselves... all to reconcile students to Christ; transforming the university, the marketplace, and the world! UM-WESTERN CHI ALPHA SEPTEMBER 2009 4500 people die every day because they do not have access to clean water. This incredibly startling fact led Chi Alpha, partnering with the Resident Life Staff at Western, to present every singe student living in the dorms The Water Project Challenge. Floor meetings, cafeteria games, water balloon fights, water crisis awareness teachings all spoke the same message from Jesus - Letʼs give out of our abundance to those in need. After hearing the challenge students arose to the occasion drinking only tap water for one week and diverting all funds normally spent on coffee, soda, and other beverages to building a clean water well in Africa. Western students desire a better world, a world much more like the one Jesus intended...$703.20 was raised!
