The Lesson Merging reality with faith

The Mission To make disciples of Jesus Christ for thetransformation of the world

The Promise To teach the Holy Scriptures and ways touse them in everyday life

The Model Disciples of Christ have attempted tospread the Good News ever since theresurrection

The Goal The way to best prepare God's people todeal with all the perils in the world is toteach them how to study, utilize, andcome to love the Word of our Lord

Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyedme, not only in my presence, but much more now in myabsence, work out your own salvation with fear andtrembling; for it is God who is at work in you, enablingyou both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Philippians 2: 12-13

World Communion Sunday - October 2nd

"World Communion Sundays calls the church to be the catholic inclusive church." (Par. 263.3, TheBook of Discipline 2008) In 1940 the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America established

World-wide Communion Sunday - originally a Presbyterian observance - as a global, interdenominational event. Prompted by the impact of World War II, the Methodist Church received

an offering on this Sunday for the Fellowship of Suffering and Service. It aided the world of theMethodist Committee on Oversea Relief (now UMCOR), the Commission on Chaplains and the

Commission on Camp Activities. In 1971, The United Methodist Church changed the name of theobservance to World Communion Sunday and continued as it continues today to distribute anyoffering taken to assist racial and ethnic minority persons pursuing various avenues of ministry.

Blessing of the Animals - October 2ad - 2:00pm - ShelterThis outdoor service, including our beloved pets, is a witness to God's and the Church's love, care,

and concern for creation. As we recognize our mutual interdependence with God's creatures, theChurch witness of stewardship of creation can be strengthened.

This is a special service for our children, as well as adults. Any size animal is welcome, exceptsnakes!

This is also a great opportunity to invite a friend, neighbor or relative to come along and bring theirpet. Non-pet owners are welcomed as well. Proper restraint is expected and required.
