The 2019 Ogle County Crop Walk will be held
at Faith Methodist Church in Polo on Septem-
ber 29. Registration starts at 1:30 and the
walk starts at 2 pm.
This is the 50th anniversary of the first orga-
nized Crop Walk held in 1969. Only two walks
were held that first year. One was held in
North Dakota and the other in Pennsylvania.
Today there are more than 800 walks in 44
states. One-fourth of all money raised locally
is divided between the five food pantries in
Ogle County:
Loaves & Fish, Mt. Morris; Lifeline pantry in
Polo; Bread of Life Pantry in Stillman Valley;
Lifeline Pantry in Oregon; and New Life, in
Forreston
Sign up as a walker or sponsor this year’s
walkers. Call Chuck Medlar at 815-440-2555
for information.
Thank you for supporting the CROP Walk.
Thanks For Your Kindness
Thank you to my church family for all their support. The prayers, cards, visits and food was all very much appreciat-ed. This has all helped on my road to recovery. Earl Martin

Grief Share Group Begins Sept. 26
GriefShare is a support group that features faith based teaching focusing on grief top-
ics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD portion features nationally re-
spected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by quiet listening and
sharing in a safe small group. Past participants have related how helpful the infor-
mation and follow up fellowship were to them. Many grieving people find they are only
beginning the work of healing when friends or family have already returned to their
daily life routines.
Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may
be recent or years ago. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the
death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. No matter
what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people
who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of
being stuck in grief as well as receive valuable information about facing your new nor-
mal in life and renewing your hope for the future.
GriefShare is available to anyone in our church, community, or surrounding towns.
GriefShare will be held on Thursday evenings beginning on Sept 26 and breaking on
Nov 7 with Surviving the Holidays,. The group will resume on March 12 and conclude
on April 23 all in the Fireplace Room at Disciples United Methodist Church, 102 Maple
Ave in Mt Morris from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Cost: $20 to cover the fee for the workbook/study guide
Any questions, please call the church office at 815-734-4853 or Ja-
mie and Shirley Smith at 815-238-3294 (cell)
Registration will be during our first evening together or you may register directly
through the website at www.griefshare.org
