Software Keys – Advantages/Limitations
●Multiple license protection models not possible on same PC and not
recommended on same SCADA site/project
● Order of precedence USB key, then software key
●Different client & server point counts possible on the same PC
● Allows for additional clustering scenarios
● Freed from existing USB key capacity constraint
●3rd party drivers that directly accessed USB key will need to convert to
new protection model to run with software keys
●OFS licensing remains unchanged

FAQ – Part 1
●Soft Licensing
● Q. Will this allow for soft licensing? A: Software licenses are only available for Vijeo Citect V7.30 onwards. Software licenses
will not be retrospectively added (via service packs) to any prior versions of Vijeo Citect or
CitectSCADA.
Q. How can I swap my dongles for Software keys? A: Contact your local Schneider Electric representative for further information. A procedure
is in place to cater for this swap.
● Q. Can I have both software keys and dongles on the same machine? A: No. If you do have the two types of protection models on the same machine then only
the dongle will be recognised.

FAQ – Part 2
●Soft Licensing
● Q. Can I have both software keys and dongles on the same site? A: Yes, as long as they are not on the same machine (see above answer). However we do
not recommend this scenario, as it makes management of site licenses difficult.
● Q. How will I receive a software key entitlement? A: Via email. This will be similar to how you would currently receive a new Authcode when
upgrading licenses on a key or updating the product version.
● Q. How can I activate my software key entitlement? A: You have 3 options to activate your software licence:
● Via the Web
● Via file download / upload to another web connected PC
● Via file download / upload and email.
NOTE: It is NOT possible to activate software licenses via telephone.
