INTRODUCTION
The Team USA Leadership Certificate Program is the flagship leadership development program for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movements.
The TULCP goal is to develop the leaders of Team USA by providing the knowledge required to lead their respective organizations into the future while building beneficial relationships within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic family.
Developed jointly with the U.S. Olympic Committee and Kellogg Center for Non-Profit Management at Northwestern University, the TULCP provides executive-level business education customized to meet the unique needs of the organizations involved in Olympic sport.
“I learned several applicable leadership tools that will help me improve the culture, motivation and productivity of my team.” – NGB Leader
“I’ve gotten to know several NGB CEO’s better. Our conversations were frank, informative and productive. I can’t get this interaction from normal business. This program is extremely beneficial. At first I wasn’t sure about the mix of people. Now, I am an advocate for the mix and more interaction with this mix [of participants]. And the professors are nothing short of phenomenal. These are first rate educators. So inspiring, and they make me want to rush back to apply my new learning.” – USOC Leader

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The TULCP is open to applicants from the U.S. Olympic Committee, certified U.S. National Governing Bodies, and the Athlete’s Advisory Council. The ideal candidate for the program is someone who has completed an undergraduate degree, has substantial work experience (preferably within Olympic or Paralympic sport), and has managed others, led a functional area or had oversight for a mission-essential program within their organization.
All applicants must be endorsed by their organization with a letter of recommendation submitted from the highest ranking leader within the organization or division. This is to acknowledge the time and financial commitment necessary to be successful in the TULCP and to ensure this program is viewed as an investment by the organization in their candidate’s professional development.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates for the TULCP program will have their application package reviewed by a selection committee from the USOC. The selection committee is composed of senior leaders who have the accountability for various constituent relationships and can attest to the quality of the candidate pool. The committee is charged with selecting candidates who will fill a unique and valuable role in an overall class cohort. This will ensure each TULCP cohort has multiple functional areas represented, a diversification of thought and can examine topics from a range of perspectives.
COSTS
The tuition fee is $10,000 USD, plus travel and accommodation expenses for the four modules. Every effort is made to moderate travel costs where possible by utilizing sponsor accommodation rates, offering options to stay at training center locations, aggregating group transportation needs, etc. Tuition subsidies are available to NGB and athlete participants and are fully detailed on the application form.
