FROM THE PASTOR

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,

I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20

I think one of the earliest songs I learned was “Into My Heart.” It’s a simple song but so very helpful. “Into my heart, into my heart, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus; Come in today, come in to stay, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.” The heart meant the center of who we are. The place from which our true desires and motives come. More than the organ or a physical place, it meant the spiritual center of our lives where our deepest beliefs, identity, and desires reside. If the center, the heart, is overrun with fear, worry, anxiety, or sin, it is difficult, if not, impossible for us to love anyone, especially God. So much more difficult does it then become for us to serve and obey Jesus as well. But if we invite Jesus into our hearts and focus our attention on him, something amazing can happen. We can be transformed and begin to have the life he promises us, a life that is eternal and abundant. So pray for Jesus to be the Lord and savior of your heart. He has promised, if we merely ask and invite, that he will come and save our hearts and so much more. Or just sing that great little song each time you are tempted and lead astray, to remind yourself of who you truly are and the good news Jesus has promised each of us.

In Christ,

Rick Ivey

Sr. Pastor

SENIOR PASTOR REV. RICK IVEY

ETERNAL FLAME ENDOWMENT FUND

Why Have an Endowment fund?

Recognizing those in our congregation who honor God’s blessings with a planned gift to our church encourages others to share in the joy and stewardship opportunities offered through Christian giving. It also gives us an opportunity to thank our members for their unfailing gen-erosity and celebrate the love we feel for them in Christ’s name.

What Types of Gifts Qualify?

Our Endowment recognizes the following types of gifts:

Current gifts establishing a permanent endowment

The gift of a home or farm with a retained life estate.

Bequests made through a will or revocable living trust.

Life income gifts such as charitable gift annuities and unitrusts.

Beneficiary designations on IRAs, Certificates of Deposit, life insurance policies, savings accounts, etc.

WESLEY PRAYER CALENDAR

We

Care

Please let us know when you need care. Need a pastor to pray with you before surgery or

visit someone? Please let us know by contacting the

church office.

Each day we will have a new prayer posted in our Wesley UMC Members Facebook Group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/911133129363126?should_open_composer=true

Please join us in prayer daily as we pray for our church to draw closer and be guided by God.

9/19—Isaiah 26:3 —May our prayers be persistent so your peace can be plentiful.

9/20—Acts 4:23-25—God, remind us to pray with an open Bible so your word can remind us of who you truly are.

9/21—Ephesians 3:20-21—Triune God, remind us that nothing is too hard for you and prayer can accomplish anything you can do.

9/22—John 15:5—Remind us daily, Lord, that we need to stay connect to you through prayer so that we can be fruitful and serve you.

9/23—2 Corinthians 1:11—Guide us, Father, to be a church and community that prays together.

9/24—Ephesians 2:4-5—We pray together this day, Gracious God, for friends, family, and loved ones who need to be released from sin and made whole and holy in you.

9/25—1 Thessalonians 5:16-18—May your Spirit remind us today to seek progress not perfection in our prayer life. Help us to pray each time we think of loved ones, during our commute, at mealtimes, for people in need, and at night.

9/26—Colossians 4:2—Today we call on you, Lord, to enrich and strengthen the prayer life of parents, grandparents, leaders, pastors, teachers, coaches, and anyone in a helping role. May you be their guide and strength through prayer.

9/27—Philippians 4:6-7—We pray for our friends or loved ones who are constantly plagued by fear and anxiety. Please grant them a peace, today, surpassing all understanding. Guard their hearts and help them to be mindful of Jesus’s love for them.

9/28—Luke 11:9-10—Give us strength and endurance to continue to pray and seek you until our prayers are answered.

Wesley Bookworms meet at noon this coming Tuesday,

September 22, at Chris Broussard's house.

This was postponed

from last week, so grab "Stay" and come to

the discussion!
