From the President
We still have one scheduled event to complete this season. Speed Events at Lorain County Speedway on September 24th in partnership with Corvette Cleveland. Our Speed Event has been publicized in our Newsletters and reminder emails. The 1st event is ‘Matching Times’ which will allow you to drive your Vette around the track without requiring you to go fast. I hope you will come out for some fun and support Tiretown. Our September Membership meeting is later than normal because of Labor Day. It is Monday night, September 11th at Lakemore Waterworks Park. If you would like to eat at the park before the meeting, please bring a dish to share and arrive between 6-6:30 PM. The Meeting will start at 7:30 PM.
Some of our members have just returned from the National Convention in Bowling Green and will be happy to talk about it.
It has been a very busy summer and I hope you enjoyed yours …Hope to see you there!

Bonnie Smith, Secretary
Vice President Chuck Heretta
Hard to think that this is my eighth article out of a promised eleven. As I think back about Tiretown’s month of August 2017, a few things stick out. First is the great participation we saw at the Serpentini Orrville (spelled correctly) car shows. A record turnout of Tiretown participants, workers, ice cream eaters and entrants was seen on that August 5th Saturday that started out cloudy and with a little drizzle. The skies cleared and the lot filled with Corvettes and smiling sponsor faces. THANK YOU for making our third weekend of events successful. It was truly a Club effort. The month continued with car shows and finally our National Convention in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Tiretown was well represented at all events and parties that week. A total of ten members made the trip to the Mecca of the Corvette. Even though the plant was closed, we were given a close up look at the 2018 and could ask questions. It is not too early to start planning next year’s vacation in New Orleans in July.
September will begin and end with car shows with some auto crossing in between (see flyers). September 24th will be our final event weekend with five auto crosses and a matching time trial at Lorain County Speedway. This Sunday is a joint effort with Corvette Cleveland. We will need another supreme effort from Tiretown with workers and entrants. Please volunteer your time to make this successful. You have not let your Club down so far, so let’s keep our record intact. You may be asking what is a matching times? Well, this event is a series of three separate runs through the course. It is not about being the fastest, but being the most consistent. We pair up your two closest times out of three. That’s what determines the winner. Normally we try to do this at the start of the season to get people comfortable to being on the track. It was suggested to me to do it with the last auto cross weekend. It is the perfect time to try it and get hooked. You can run just the matching times, but I’ll bet you will enter the other five events. At any rate, be there to support our Club and Corvette Cleveland.
As a final thought, we are starting to see new interest in being a member of Tiretown. As renewal time draws near, fill out the form and send in your check. You have made this year enjoyable by being a member, being active in all phases of Club activities, and by trying new things with your fellow members. Don’t stop now. We have only just begun to really enjoy America’s only true sports car. . . the CORVETTE

Membership Report
Bill & I were late getting to the August meeting. Thank You to everyone who got the members and the visitors situated and signed in. I hope that the hot dogs, kielbasa, and sides were enjoyed. We had 22 members and 5 visitors at the August meeting. Visiting with us were Bruce Warnick & Faith Swan, Ladd & Jackie Horvath, and Bill Bray. Since our Car Show at Sepentini Chevrolet in Orrville, August 5 and our meeting August 7, we have had several people want to join Tiretown Corvette Club. From the Car Show we have Dave & MaryKay Cook from Norton, they have a 1996 White Coupe, Rick Brenneman from Cuyahoga Falls - a 1998 Black Coupe, Michael Redfern from Cuyahoga Falls with a 1992 Aqua Metallic Convertible, and from the August meeting Ladd & Jackie Horvath from Stow with a 2012 White Coupe. I will have them joining TTCC and NCCC after September 1, so that their membership is good from now until October of 2018. Ladd & Jackie, Dave & MaryKay, and Tony & Ann Mills (fairly new to the club) all joined us for the Cruise to Gervasi Vineyard on Weds. Aug. 30. I hope they enjoyed themselves and that we will see them in the near future at the September Meeting, Sept 11, and maybe we will see them at Lorain Speedway on Sunday Sept 24. If you know of anyone who might want information about Tiretown Corvette Club, give them my information or give me their information. How about we plan a nice Sunday Drive somewhere where we might see some leaves changing into beautiful fall colors and stop at a Steak House to our South (Chuck you know the one) or maybe a BBQ Restaurant up near Burton (Tom you know the one). Let's look at the calendars and get something planned. I sent out an email to all the members with a picture from last night's Cruise to Gervasi Vineyard, I hope you all received it and are now wondering why you missed going. Keep it in mind for another time next year.
