Why Ozone ?. Why WaterWorks Ozo-Tek?
Safety: There are no dangerous chemicals to transport, store, or
handle. Perhaps even more important, the chance of overdosing
with dangerous and hazardous chemicals is limited.
Classified under Generally Recognizes As Safe (GRAS) as listed
by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).
as a disinfectant for bottled waters.
Disinfection: Ozone kills microorganisms with
a process known as “cellular lysis” . In
the Oxidation process, Ozone ruptures the
cellular membrane of microorganisms and
disperses the bacterial cytoplasm into
solution, thus making reactivation impossible.
This process takes place in about 2 seconds.
WATER WORKS
Ozone destroys E. coli 3,125 times
faster than Chlorine.
Oxidation Of ORGANICs & Pesticides. WaterWorks Ozo-Tek is a very powerful agent in
treating Organic Materials.
Organics are either Natural (Humic and Fulvic Acids)
or Synthetic (Detergents, Pesticides) in nature.
Some Organics react with Ozo-Tek very rapidly to
destruction, within minutes or even seconds ( Phenol,
Formic Acid), whereas other react more slowly with Ozo-
Tek ( Humic & Fulvic Acids, several Pesticides,
Trichloroethane...) Soaking meats and produce in diluted
Ozo-Tek solution for 10 to 15 min. can greatly reduce
contamination.
Oxidation Of INORGANICs.
Oxidation of Inorganics with Ozo-Tek will not result
in the complete removal of metals, but it does facilitate
their Oxidation, Precipitation and subsequent Removal
through Filtration. Iron and Manganese are easily and
readily Oxidized into a particulate for filtration
downstream.
Sulfides are rapidly Oxidized to Sulfates, thus
eliminating the “rotten egg” taste and odour associated
with Sulfides.
Heavy Metals such as Arsenic, Copper, and Lead are easily reduced to below
detection limits with Ozo-Tek followed by filtration. Trace Metal removal of
Cadmium and Zinc through Oxidation with Ozo-Tek and subsequent Filtration
has been found to be effective in reaching MCL levels established by the USEPA
in the SDWA. Nitrite ion is oxidized very quickly to Nitrate as are Organic
Nitriles, Nitrites, Nitrous Compounds, Hydroxylamine and the like.
In the case of Iron, Manganese and several Arsenite or Arsenate compounds,
Oxidation takes place very rapidly, leaving insoluble compounds which are easily
removed by a Granular Activated Carbon Filter. Sulfide ions are oxidized
sequentially to Sulfate ions, an innocuous substance. The first stage of this
oxidation is very rapid, quick and efficiently removing any Sulfurous odours.
Nitrite ions are Oxidized to Nitrate ions, which are stable and innocuous

The extent of Bacteria Destruction and Viral Inactivation is directly
related to the concentration of ozone in the water and its contact time
with the microorganisms.
Bacteria are the most rapidly destroyed.EColi Bacteria are destroyed by Ozone concentrations of just over .01
mg/liter and contact time of 15 second at temperatures of 25 degrees C
(77 degrees F) and 30 degrees C (86 degrees F).
Streptococcus Fecalis are much more easily destroyed.
At Ozone concentrations of about 0.025 mg/liter, 99.99% inactivation is
obtained in 20 seconds or less at both temperatures.
Legionalla Pneumophila ( the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires
disease) is destroyed with relatively low dosages of ozone. This is one of
many reasons that Ozone Based Treatment has become so popular in
the treatment of cooling tower water.
Viruses are more resistant than Bacteria. But only just. Pioneered by
French public officials, it has been found that inactivation of viruses in
excess of 3-log (99.9%) can be achieved by maintaining a 0.4 residual
of ozone for a minimum of 4 minutes
Poliovirus types I, II and III are inactivated by exposure to
concentrations of dissolved Ozone of 0.4 mg/liter over a four minute
contact period.
WaterWorks Ozo-Tek which
personifies Ozone but in Liquid
Form is a very powerful Oxidizing
agent, is effective against Bacteria,
Virus, Fungi, Algae and Spores.
What is more important is that it is
equally effective against a variety
of bacteria species that are
normally resistant to other biocides.
In addition to its strong biocidalaction which is long lasting, Ozo-
Tek is a nontoxic, nonpolluting,
nonresidual and environmental
friendly biocide.
It is a universal biocide that is
suitable for all industries.
WATER WORKS
BacterialDisinfection &
Viral Inactivation. WaterWorks Ozo-Tek is a complex
formulation in liquid form.
It works on Pathogens / Germs /
Bacterial Contaminated Media in two
ways.
First, it kills the Pathogens / Germs /
Bacteria by an Oxidative Degradation
Reaction (ODR).
Second, it further enhances the
already long lasting Oxidative effect,
thereby ensuring the prevention of further
growth of Pathogens / Bacteria.
This synergic reaction of WaterWorks
is achieved by a formulation in
combination with special manufacturing
process.
WaterWorks has
3000 ppm of Nascent Oxygen in
Liquid Form captured in it and it is
engineered for Sustained Dosage Release.

Ozone is the disinfectant of
choice for most water bottling
plant operations. Unlike
Chlorine, Ozone leaves no
undesirable taste or odor. Taste
and odor by-products such as
Unsaturated Aldehydes are
readily Oxidizable with Ozone.
Ozone is 152% stronger thanChlorine and destroys E-Coli ,
3125 times faster than Chlorine.
WaterWorks Ozo-Tek Vs.Conventional : Cost Benefit
Analysis.WaterWorks LLC performed a
cost benefit comparison of the current
Surface Agitator Aerators versus a
proposed Ozo-Tek’
based Oxidation
Treatment System.
This comparison
evaluated current
operational costs
associated with the
surface aerators
versus operational
costs associated with
a complete
oxidization system. The cost
benefit analysis identified differences
in energy consumption and treatment
efficiencies between the two systems
and weighed the associated
“nonfixed” costs such as sludge
removal and disposal.
Additionally, the study examined
the differences in energy consumption
and treatment efficiencies between
several municipal and industrial
wastewater treatment
systems which have
already started to switch
from surface aerator
systems to a new
oxidization system.
It was found that the cost
difference as regards
capital investment, power
consumption, and
operational running cost
are cut down by more
than 50% as against conventional
method treatment plants.

OZONE : WHITE PAPER
What Is Ozone ?Ozone, first discovered in 1840, received its name from the Greek word “Ozein”, which means to smell.
Ozone is a Triatomic Allotrope of Oxygen (a form of oxygen in which the molecule contains three atoms instead of two).
Its chemical formula is O3 and it is always present in trace quantities in the Earth's atmosphere.
Ozone is produced when Oxygen molecules (O2 ) are split into two oxygen atoms (O1 ) while in the presence of other oxygen
molecules. These Oxygen atoms (O1 ) then combine with molecular oxygen (O2 ) to yield Ozone,O3.
Ozone is generated naturally by short-wave solar ultraviolet radiation, and appears in our upper atmosphere (Ozonosphere) in the
form of gas.
CHARACTERSTICS OF OZONE
Color Pale Blue
Odour Detectable In Concentrations as low as 0.01 ppm in air.
Oxidation Potential 2.07 V in Alkaline Solution. Strongest stand alone oxidizer currently available
and is 152 % stronger than Chlorine
Density 150% that of Oxygen.
Form Factors GAS at Ambient Temperature. Condenses to Dark Blue LIQUID at -170°F.
Freezes to SOLID at -420°F.
Decomposition Decomposes readily* at temperatures exceeding -212°F.
Stability Time & Temperature dependent. At room temperature unreacted Ozone will
revert back to Molecular Oxygen completely within hours. Ozone is an unstable
gas with a 1/2 life in the order of minutes.
Disinfectant Destroys Microorganisms, Viruses & Cysts quickly without much reaction from pH
or Turbidity

Color Removal.Color derived from the decomposition of
naturally occurring Humic materials
(organics) is easily removed with Ozone
followed by GAC filtration.
Toxins & Pesticides. Pesticides such as Phosolone and Aldrin are
Oxidized to destruction. Toxic Cyanide
ions are readily oxidized by Ozone to the
much less toxic Cyanate ion.
Turbidity & Micro Flocculation.Ozone used as a coagulation aid prior to
the injection of chemicals, enhances the
process through micro flocculation and
reduces chemical demand. It is not a
replacement to the coagulation process, but
as a superior coagulant aid.
OZONE : WHITE PAPER
The Mechanics Of Ozone :The USEPA has identified over
700 individual organic compounds,
many of which may be readilyOxidized to Carbon Dioxide by
Ozone, while a few others are not
affected at all.
The use of Ozone on Organics is
typically followed by Filtration with
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC).
Advanced Oxidation Process
Advanced Oxidation Process
(AOP) refers to increasing the
Reactivity of Ozone in Water.
Forcing Ozone to react via a Free
Radical Pathway performs this. There
are two methods commonly used to
attain AOP:
1. (O3 + H2O2)
2. (O3 + UV)
This Free Radical Process
degrades many molecules that areresistant to Ozone alone. AOP
utilized on Organics that normally
react to Ozone will reduce the initial
Ozone dosage required by
approximately 20%.
AOP is used most often to control
Organics (Taste, Odor, Color, THM
Precursors, Micro Pollutants and
Pesticides).Trihalomethane (THM) precursors
(Humic and Fulvic Acids) are not
formed until they are Chlorinated.
Therefore, it is best to control the THM
precursors prior to Chlorination (if
required after Ozonation) by partially
oxidizing them with small amounts of
Ozone. Normally, the Ozonated
water is then passed through sand
and/or GAC filtration. The partially
oxidized THM precursors arebiologically degraded in the sand
and / or GAC filters.
Volatile Organic Contaminants
(VOCs) may be reduced dramatically
(up to 97%) by Ozonation followed
by GAC.
Synthetic Organic Contaminants
(SOCs) Micro pollutants can be
removed by Ozone or AOP. Thisremoval leads to the transformation of
these molecules into toxic or non-toxic
by-products, which are easily
removed through subsequent GAC
filtration.

WATERWORKS : SALIENT BENEFITS
Plant Size & Treatment Costs.WaterWorks’ based treatment
Plant Area required would more than
50% LESS compared to ConventionalTreatment Plants. Optionally the
WaterWorks’ plant can be designed
for Underground Operation (below
Parking / Landscape / Garden
areas).
For example Land area required
for a 100 Kl plant would be
50 x 75 = 3750 Sq. Feet.
The costing of the plant is alsomuch too less compared to
conventional treatment and
treatment plants.
Adaptability & MaintenanceCosts.
With WaterWorks’ existing
Conventional Treatment Plants couldbe made to perform more efficiently
with minimum modifications for
maximum results.
Maintenance of a WaterWorks’
based plant is very easy with low
running cost, as there is no
complicated machinery.
Disinfection Costs.WaterWorks can be compared
with other biocides, disinfectants and
antiseptic solutions, but oncomparison WaterWorks is more
economical than most of the
disinfectants that are commonly used,
apart from being more effective.
