WELCOME A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO Dear YMCA Members and Friends – It is a brand new day at the Y. We are all at the center of an entire “re-branding” of the YMCA, as launched in July 2010, where 4,000 YMCA staff members came together to celebrate the nearly 160 year history of the YMCA in this country. We are now, collectively called “The Y”. That is probably what you call us every time you leave the house and say, “I’m going to the Y”, or, “I’m picking up the kids at he Y.” This is the part that is most obvious. However, the real opportunity is presented by allowing us to reintroduce ourselves to the com-munity we serve. Perhaps you have thought of us as your club, child care center, gym, preschool, etc… Yes, we are all of those things, but what is the Y---REALLY?? We are the champions of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. You belong to a network that relates to people in hundreds of ways across these three platforms. Yes, we have child care and day camps. We raise funds (thanks to you and the rest of our community) so that people who cannot afford our meaningful programs can still send their children. Everyone who contributes helps us to nurture and develop the leaders of tomorrow. Please join us as we celebrate our new way of com-municating our message. What we do, will not change. How we present it…will. Thank you for be-ing a part of a great organization and for helping us to serve the community. Laurie O’Shaughnessy Executive Director/CEO

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Giving back and providing support to our neighbors OUR MISSION

The mission of the Canandaigua Family YMCA is to put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. OUR GOAL Financial assistance is based on ability to pay. It is the policy of the Canandaigua Family YMCA that no person be denied membership or program participation by reason of inability to pay fees. Funds made available for financial assistance are provided through the United Way and the YMCA’s annual Caring for Kids Campaign. FINANCIAL SUPPORT CARING FOR KIDS CAMPAIGN At the YMCA, one of our most important goals has al-ways been to enrich the lives of kids in our community. But when some are left out, it leaves us all a bit poorer. As a person with vested interest in the future of your community, you can help these kids grow into responsi-ble, successful adults. YMCA activities help children de-velop valuable skills, gain confidence and build self-esteem. By contributing to the YMCA Caring For Kids Campaign, you can help us teach these young people such important values as caring, honesty, responsibility and respect. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter lifestyle choices. We offer a variety of programs for teens, all designed to address the social, emotional and physical needs of teens. The Canandaigua Family YMCA teen programs offer a safe place to socialize, exposure to positive role models, and leadership opportunities to help them tomorrow. That makes for confident teens today and contribut-ing and engaged adults tomorrow. School Dismissal - 8 pm (*new longer hours!) Registration required to attend - available at the Welcome Center.
