Year 7 to High School Consultation
Last Monday night we were able to coordinate a visit from
the Year 7 to High School team with our Governing Council
meeting – thanks to our extended community for being able
to attend the meeting.
At the meeting the team explained the Department’s process
for transitioning our Year 7’s to High School from 2022
onwards, providing information about how they will be
accommodated at Secondary sites and also the impact on
buses. Discussions were also held about the possibility of
rural Year 7’s having a choice where they attend school for a
window of 3 years.
Below is correspondence I have received from Ali and
Caroline who presented that evening.
It was great to have a conversation about the issues facing
Glencoe families when year 7 moves to high school in 2022.
As promised, here are details of the bus review. https://

participations. Unfortunately, formal submissions have closed.
However, I have confirmed with the relevant team that the
minister has not yet seen the outcomes of the consultation.
This means that, while submissions have closed, families can
email their views to [email protected]. I’ve told his
office to expect some additional submissions.
We are also following up with Education’s Infrastructure to
get additional information about timelines for the build at the
high schools, including how families can keep abreast of what
is happening. We will send through to the primary school
when we have the information.
In terms of next steps, we will send you a copy of the report
we provide to government about what we’ve heard in the
consultations. You can expect this in October.
We will then let you know what government decides about a
transition period for some country schools as soon as that
decision is made, before the end of the year.
People interested in the project can keep in touch by visiting
the website (www.education.sa.gov.au/7toHS ) or subscribing
to updates from this email address.
Thanks again, and please feel free to get in touch about
anything of interest related to the project.

Pupil Free Day
We have recently been notified that the Brightpath writing
team are presenting workshops in Week 9 at Millicent North
Primary School. Usually these workshops are conducted in
Adelaide and so not all of our staff can attend. In order for us
to be able to take advantage of this opportunity we will
replace our previously approved Pupil Free Day – the new
date will be Monday, September 16 th.
School Uniform
It has been great to see students wearing their school
uniform in recent weeks. Thanks to families for supporting
the Uniform Policy – it really does make a difference to the
feel of equity in the school and helps to keep our focus in our
core business of student learning.
Number Sprints
Our work with whole school number ‘sprints’ will continue
over this week and next week. The sprint is an intensive focus
on a particular skill to be developed for all of our students.
Each week our tasks have been modified to respond to the
needs of the students. It has been fascinating to watch the
students as they challenge themselves to recognise the
number of items in a group more quickly and also be aware of
their own improvement.
