S 9, 2018

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE" by Bud Ozar

Because the deaf man in today’s Gospel recognized his dis-

ability, he could seek help from Jesus. Deafness abounds

in families: in our children (“Oh dad, not that again”) in

parents (“It is just a stage”) and in spouses (“Are you Lis-

tening?”). Before Jesus can enter your home and heal, you

must first recognize your deafness.

Vocation Reflections

Jesus groans to the Heavens, begging God for our

openness. Let His prayer of “Ephphatha!” echo in the

stillness of your heart. Pray for the gift of openness for

yourself, and for those you know whom God may be

calling to priesthood or religious life. If you think you are being

called, call Fr. Michael Casey Director of Vocations, Pastoral

Center, Tel. 8607617456, email [email protected] or visit

the web at www.hartfordpriest.com.

Parish Nurse Program

In April and May of 2018, the parish nurse

group performed a parish “Community

Needs Assessment” survey. 258 parishion-

ers responded and identified High Blood

Pressure as the number one health concern and High Cholesterol

as the number 2 concern. The top three topics of interest include

Exercise Diet/Improving Nutrition, Healthy Aging, and Stress

Relief. Weekday evenings were recognized as the most conven-

ient time for our parishioners to attend educational programs.

OLMC Parish Nurses would like to thank the parishion-

ers that participated in the Blood Pressure Blitz. We sincerely

enjoyed meeting and getting to know you. 75 parishioners partic-

ipated! Watch the bulletin for future Blood Pressure screenings.

We encourage everyone to participate, meet your nurses, have

your blood pressure checked, and collect some healthy living

tips.

Dr Ricardo Cordido, a local Cardiologist will be com-

ing on September 19, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Church Hall, to

speak on High Blood Pressure. All are welcome to join us

The Parish Nurse Group would like to give a special

Thanks to the Mastriano Family and Screentek Printing for their

very generous gifts. Thank you for the Parish Nurse Tee Shirts,

the beautiful Banner, and the wallet sized Blood Pressure Cards.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
