My name is Sentra and I am your Independent Sr. Pink Cadilllac Sales Director, coach and your biggest fan!!!I want to celebrate you and your new business in Mary Kay. I want to be a great resource for you and I vow to help, guide and train you along the way. However, your success will depend entirely on you, and the action that you take. !!Your “Dream Life” will not develop on its own, but the more effort and time you invest into your opportunity, the success of your business will grow. In Mary Kay we like to say, “it takes 80% attitude and only 20% skill”. We all know that skills can be taught, so as long as you have a great attitude, you will go a long way, both professionally and personally.!!The “Dream Life” that I am talking about is not just financial freedom and the lifestyle that your business can provide. It also includes the life-long friends and the fellowship with God. It will provide opportunities to grow leadership skills, business sense, confidence and self-empowerment. Here are some terms that you will hear quite a bit in Mary Kay!
Career Path: The basic structure of Mary Kay is that Nationals train Directions and Directors train Consultants. Every Consultant has a Director and a National. You can promote yourself as quickly as you choose. As a consultant you are responsible for learning the products, sharing the product and sharing the Mary Kay opportunity. !
Red Jacket: Consultants that add 3 active team members are considered to be at a mid-leadership level and called Red Jackets.!
Unit: Every Director has a group of women that they train and mentor. This team is called a unit. You are in the Beauty from Ashes Unit! Once you become a Director you will have your own unit to train and encourage!!
National Area: This is not a physical area or a territory. A National Area consists of one MK National and all of her personal offspring Directors and their units. We are part of the “Go Give National Area.” !
InTouch: Mary Kay Corporate has a website dedicated to its Consultants. This site can only be accessed by women in our company. You will receive a Consultant number through email after you have signed your agreement. Your temporary password is your mother’s maiden name. Having access to InTouch will allow you to order product, get training, access product info, order prizes and so much more. To put it simply, you will use this website A LOT to help you run your business! www.marykayintouch.com!
Fast Facts: This is the “buzz word” we use that means sharing the business opportunity with other women. This is something that you should practice over and over. The more you know about the Mary Kay business opportunity, the better. Every time you meet with a client, you should share your Fast Facts, because you never know how this opportunity could bless someone if you don’t share it!!
Pearls of Sharing: Part of the Power Start, this is a program that encourages new consultants to share the MK opportunity with their director. !

-! Find a good skirt or jacket set that you can change out until you earn your sassy red jacket!!
Important Things to Remember:
-!We are in the Skin Care and Cosmetics Industry, which is why we always want to look our best. Dressing in professional attire will gain trust and recognition from our clients.!
-!What you put on Facebook will reflect who you are as a business owner, so be conscious of the picture and status updates that you post!!
-!You may also want to record a professional outgoing voicemail message. Something that you would want your customers to hear.!
Meeting and Event Etiquette:
-!Arrive 10-15 minutes early to all events, meetings and appointments.
-!Arrive with a 100% positive attitude.
-!Bring guests to all events
-!When you bring a guest, make them your focus (not other consultants)
-!Electronic devices should not be used at meetings or events
-!Please leave children at home. They are wonderful, but remember that unit meetings and skin care classes are not the places for them.
-!At any Mary Kay event or skin care classes, no alcoholic beverages can be served to clients or yourself.

Business SenseBusiness Sense for Small Business Owners
You have become a business owner, congratulations!!! This truly is an amazing thing. You have the ability to set your schedule, priorities, goals and your income. Your success is in your hands, but you are not alone on an island! Mary Kay has been building its brand, refining its products, developing new products and marketing them for the past 50 years! You are joining a globally known, multi-billion dollar company that will be behind you and celebrating your every success!!!Set yourself up for business success: You didn’t just order a starter-kit; you invested in an opportunity! It is entirely up to you what you do with it. You are in control of the lives you decide to bless by sharing this opportunity, including your own. Here are some general best business practices for our industry to keep in mind:!!
1.! Your customers are your livelihood. Make sure that they are your priority and you take care of them with love!!!
2.! Know your business! Make sure that you invest time in learning about each product and the Mary Kay business structure. You will gain a tremendous amount of trust from your customers. The more you know, the more you will sell!!!
3.! Treat this like a job and it will pay like one. This seems simple or obvious, but it is a crucial point that you should take to heart. Even if you plan on Mary Kay being a part-time commitment, make sure you work it like any other job! Your business will grow and grow, even if you commit to 5-10 hours per week!!!
The following pages in section two will help you to build a strong business foundation. This is YOUR business, so you have the liberty to try out anything and implement your very own strategy; however, many women have gone before you and learned some great lessons. Take everything you can from them and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone!

Invest in Inventory If I can impart one piece of advice that was given to me, it is to consider the importance of investing in inventory! Your small business is based on sales. The more product that you have on hand, the quicker you can make sales and the more money you’ll earn. Mary Kay offers some amazing deals for new consultants who launch their business off by investing in inventory. Here are some practical reasons to buy into inventory: !-! Convenience for you and your clients. Usually when they run out of something they need it yesterday! -! Cosmetics can often be impulsive and the opportunity for your clients to take products home generally
increases sales and increases customer loyalty (You sell 3x more!) -! The immediate gratification of profits! -! You establish yourself as a professional and not an order taker. -! Clients know that they can come to you when they need products, so you can build and maintain your
customer base. -! You can provide CUSTOMIZED customer service and make payment plans available. That is something no
department store can offer. -! Time is money and having inventory will save you time which you can use to sell more and continue
building your team! !Other things to consider with Inventory: !-! If you decide to have product on hand, within 15 DAYS of signing your agreement, you will receive free
product. You can use that product for yourself, you can sell it, you can demo it or you can gift it! The amount of free product you will get with the initial order ranges from $245 to $860!!!
-! You can start a business for under $5,000, which is incredible. It is certainly an investment, but the potential to create a career that can provide you with financial freedom is worth every cent!

While you can truly start your business with just a starter kit, finding a way to get inventory on hand will jump start your business and set you up for future success. Preparing Your Home Office
Create a separate workspace for your business. This could be a separate room, or a corner of a room in your home. This is VERY IMPORTANT! A neat and organized workspace contributes greatly to a happy, healthy business owner. !

* Desk !

* Printer!
* High Speed Internet (if available in your area, if not the highest bandwidth available) !
* Shelving for your Invetory (book shelves, hutch, small linen closet with lots of shelves, etc.) !
* Instead of file folders for your papers and brochures, use a paper organizer on or near your desk!
* Cell phone or home phone with an unlimited or large minute plan. Also back-up service in case you lose or damage your cell phone. Check exclusive savings on www.marykayintouch.com for discount programs with cell phone providers!
* Brain Book - this will hold everything you’ll want to keep on you at all times, with spaces to take notes on potential customers, phones calls you may get from customers while you’re out of the office, etc. A 3 ring Binder with sheet protectors is perfect and will also hold your 3 subject spiral notebook. Your brain book should stay with you at all times! !

You have just made a list of 35 people you already know and could sell some of your product to, but how do you get in front of them? !Your leads and prospects will want to attach themselves to your goals. We will create monthly goals that you can share with your potential customer base to get them excited about meeting with you! Here are a few scripts that you can use to invite women to meet with you: !
1.! “Hi (their name), this is (your name). I just started my own business in Mary Kay and I have a challenge as part of my training program to practice on 30 faces in 30 days. My MK mentor asked me to think of women who support and encourage me, so of course I thought of you! Is there any reason why you couldn’t be one of my faces? … Great, I am so excited! I have this time (day/time) and this time (day/time) available; which works best for you? You are more than welcome to bring some friends with you as it will make our meeting more fun and help me to meet my goal. Thanks!”!!
2.! “Hi (their name), this is (your name). I just started my Mary Kay business and I am working to put together a professional portfolio of ‘before and after’ pictures of models and thought you would be perfect! Would you be interested in being one of my models? Does the beginning or end of the week work best for you?!!!
You can be as creative as you want with these bookings, but the most important thing is that you are bold! The worst response you will ever hear is no! So go for it and remember that the products that you have to offer them are great and they will love them!
