INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION
Industrial Automation is theuse of control systems and
information technologies toreduce the need for human
work in the production ofgoods and services.
In the scope ofindustrialization, automation
is a step beyondmechanization.
Industrial automation dealswith the optimization of
energy-efficient drive systemsby precise measurementand control technologies.

Mechatronics is the combination of Mechanicalengineering, Electronic engineering, Computerengineering, Control engineering, and Systems
Design engineering in order to design, andmanufacture useful products.
Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary engineeringsystem design, that is to say it rejects splitting
engineering into separate disciplines.
Mechatronics is an engineeringdiscipline which deals with the
convergence of electrical,mechanical and manufacturing
systems.

FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM
A flexible manufacturing system(FMS) is amanufacturing system in which there is some amountof flexibility that allows the system to react to changes, whether predicted or unpredicted.
An Industrial Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS)consists of robots, Computer-controlled Machines,Numerical controlled machines (CNC), instrumentationdevices, computers, sensors, and other stand alone
systems such as inspection machines.

SENSORS
A Sensor is defined as a device that converts a physical stimulus into areadable output.
By extracting information from the physical world , sensors provideinputs to the control and automation systems.
The design of sensors is driven by performance features & attributes:signal-to-noise ratio, reliability, safety, accuracy, response time, dynamic range, cost, power consumption, size, etc.
Sensors may be of many types, e.g.-magnetic, acoustic, optical, etc.
