Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,
Surgery is the core of Urology. For more than a century, Urology has been – and still is – one of the most innovative surgical specialities in modern medicine. Indications in oncology, reconstruction, kidney stones, BPH, and andrology are managed using open, laparoscopic, robotic, endourological, shock wave or microscopic procedures. The variable combination of indications and procedures creates a multitude of treatment options.
Against this backdrop – by way of a navigation aid in a complex surgical universe - the symposium Semi-Live focuses on contemporary, state-of-the-art urologic procedures for complex and standard indications. Additionally, the topics of intestinal anastomosis and intraabdominal vascular repair techniques are covered as important urological tools.
In this context, Semi-Live brings together some of the most eminent surgeons from around the world. They have been invited to Heidelberg one year ahead of the actual event. That time frame allows them to prepare, operate, and record their ideal case just for you. The resulting 15 minutes of high-definition, uninterrupted videos per speaker will be commenta-ted live to the audience by the surgeons themselves.
They will present anatomical landmarks, access strategies, important steps, elegant tricks, pitfalls and complication management in an intense, live setting.
Each presentation will be followed by 15 minutes of discussion, which may be continued later in the speaker’s corner. This allows you plenty of time to get every last detail of any of the procedures presented which you are interested in. Inspiring scientific discussions can continue during the Friday evening, when the presenters and audience are invited for dinner in one of the oldest and most beautiful microbreweries in Heidelberg’s old town.
Semi-Live is supplemented by a surgical workshop. Here, a limited number of participants can receive hands-on training in essential laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
Such a new concept of exchanging and relaying urological surgical knowledge could not have been made a reality without extensive support. We are indebted to Dr. h.c. mult. Sybill Storz, managing director of KARL STORZ GmbH & Co.KG, who was immediately convinced by the concept of Semi-Live and pledged the most essential support. At the same time, we are more than grateful to all other partners from industry who sponsor this event as well. We are looking very much forward to welcoming you to Heidelberg.
Best regards on behalf of the organizing committee,
Dogu Teber Markus Hohenfellner
