P.7 Panther Tales

I liked using and learning Photoshop and the ef-fects you can do with photos. My favorite thing to do on photoshop is cutting out because I have enough patience for it and I think it adds a dif-ferent way of coverage than just another rect-angular picture. I think it can work well in sports because action shots are usually good enpugh with just the subject.

I had a lot of fun making the About Me Spread because I like designing spreads and I missed it. My copy wasn’t too great because it was awkward to write about yourself. I enjoy making spreads that aren’t traditional and have a lot of white space. I got some inspiration of the pulling out a color and the transparent boxes from oth-er spreads.

Ithinking pulling out colors in a picture empha-sizes a subject and can go well along with what your talking about, like in this case my copy was aout goalies. It was pretty simple to do on Photoshop, but it’s not my favorite effect because you can tell it was obviously photo-shopped. It should only be used when there’s some kind of spotlight to highlight something.

Blurring out the background of a picture can make it look like I did that with my camera even though I don’t know how. It doesn’t look pho-toshoped, but it isn’t easy to make it the right kind of blurred that looks natural, especially for sports to show motion.

My November Beat is personally my favorite. I had a lot of fun writing this beat mostly be-cause the hockey team finally won and it was an exciting game, so it was easy to look around and capture moments. When writing this I took into considration the tips Mrs. Moore taught us. I like writing about sports, if I know them, be-cause the game tells the story for you.

This was my first beat and it was a little rough. There wasn’t much going on so it was hard to right about, but compared to my latest beat I feel like I should’ve used more description words instead of straight facts. It was also a little too long for a beat and not completely in AP Style.

I took this picture at Winter Wonderland and liked how the focus was on the kids and that i got three in one picture. I would probably either crop out or blue the candy because it’s a little too focused on it. I need to practice working on my photography skills because certain effects that a camera can do, like focusing and lighting, I don’t know how to do well.

I took this picture at Winter Wonderland and like how the highschooler is interacting with the younger kids. I like the lighting on the child, but may need to dim the shadows on the older girl. I accidently cut off the top of her head, but I like the angle and how you can see the table and what they were doing.

While making this logo, it was my first time us-ing Illustrator which was really difficult to learn. I think I need to practce more on that program because looking at other people’s logos, I saw that Illustrator could make really interestanting things that can not only contribute to a year-book, but the marketing.

Although this design seemed simple at first, it was very complicated because of all the differ-ent programs we had to use and learn. I liked making this sign because it made me more aware of the programs I am exposed to and the abiltiy of what they can do.
