The Beijing Greenbelt Project (In Progress)

A second greenbelt is currently under construction. It will consist of tree plantations, parks and open spaces, reserved agricultural lands, and residential areas. It has been proposed to limit urban sprawl andimprove the city’s ecological conditions.

Greenbelt Functions:to limit the heavy industry at the urban fringe•to evacuate dense urban population of the inner city•to defend / reduce sandstorms•to improve the ecological conditions•to provide recreational services•to develop modern agriculture and provide food •resources
