The Proposal will:
·Move the right turn facility for traffic from Mowbray Street away from the Bridgehouses junction towards Savile Street (See Ref 1).
· Increase the number of lanes clockwise from Corporation Street to Alma Street (See Ref 2).
·Change the lane useage on the clockwise approach to Savile Street so you can either go left or ahead at the junction (See Ref 3).
·Provide a left turn lane into Corporation Street (See Ref 4).
·Re-route the path of traffic heading for Chatham Street at Bridgehouses to the left of the pedestrian island (See Ref 5).
·Segregate cycles from other traffic by putting them on the footway where possible (segregating them from pedestrians where widths
allow), (See Ref 6).
·Provide a direct and segregated cycle crossing of the IRR at Bridge Street, which is to be promoted as one of the main routes into
and out of the city centre (See Ref 7).
·Replace the pedestrian crossing east of Bridgehouses with one nearer Savile Street (See Ref 8).

New central reserve and carriageway apron
(to match existing)
Remove existing trees where necessary -
replace with ones suitable for the highway
environment and in accordance with the
replacement ratio (3 for every 1 removed)
Remove existing carriageway and replace with
landscaping - (area can be used for planting
if required)
Adjustments required at controlled crossing
points.
Areas of carriageway where layout has
changed or lanes / markings have changed
Adjustments required at un-controlled
crossing points.
