“ We brought 20 of our School Prefects for a WAKTU Leadership and Teamwork day at the start of the school year. The day was at a breath-taking location (shores of Lake Windermere), the WAKTU staff were superb and we had a hugely worthwhile and rewarding day. The programme our pupils had was enjoyable, challenging and they learnt so much about themselves. They came as 20 individuals and left as a team ready to lead our school. I would thoroughly recommend WAKTU to any school. We will certainly be using them again.” Dan Harrison, Second Master, Sedbergh School

MAXIMISING POTENTIAL

How it was achieved & what is the continued support.

• WAKTU created an intense, physical and adventurous challenge which took Pupils out of their comfort zones. This created an ideal learning environment to explore capabilities and accelerate leadership skills and a greater understanding of Health and Wellbeing

• The WAKTU Health & Wellbeing Pillars underpinned all the challenges and were discussed in instant review sessions. Furthermore, professional athletes supported the transfer of learning through sharing personal stories in evening review and reflection sessions.

• Individual challenges undertaken during the camp were focused on specific learning outcomes which related to one or more of the camps aims.

• Individuals self assessed themselves on their Mental Resilience, Leadership and the WAKTU Health & Wellbeing Pillars. Individuals then created a WAKTU high performance plan to further accelerate these areas.

• During the programme all pupils were tested on their physical ability through a Gold Standard Physical Test. This produced information with allowed WAKTU to generate an online Physical Performance Plan. Each pupil is now following an 8 week plan 2 days a week back in School.

• 8 weeks after the Camp all prefect will be re tested to on the Gold Standard Physical Test to see their development. Also another self assessment on the WAKTU Health & Wellbeing Pillars will be carried out..

• 3 months after the Lake District programme, A WAKTU challenge will be delivered in School for all of the 6th Form . This will then be followed up by an evening seminar which will feature a professional athlete who will educate pupils on coping mechanism for exams and other school and life pressures through a story of his/her own. Furthermore it will be underpinned by resilience and the WAKTU Health & Wellbeing Pillars.
