Fire safety and Properties

Exeed Glasswool has the following fire ratings which are critical for pipe insulation application:

. Not easily ignitable: Conforms to Class P as per BS 476 part 5.

. Fire retardant: Class 1 as per BS 476 part 7/Class O as per BS 476 part 6 and 7.

. Base fibers are non-combustible when tested in accordance with BS 476 (Part 4), ASTM E 84, 136.

Surface Burning Characteristics (UL 723, ASTM E 84, ASTM E 136)

Base glass fibers is non-combustible when tested to ASTM E84.

Exeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) is made in standard 1.2m lengths and is available in nominal iron pipe sizes from

12.7 mm (½ in) through 650mm (26in) and in nominal copper tube sizes from 15 mm (5/8 in) through 300mm (12 in).

Nominal wall thickness ranges from 13 mm (½ in) to 100 mm (4 in), with 13 mm (½ in), 25 mm (1 in), 38 mm (1 ½ in),

50 mm (2 in), 64 mm (2 ½ in), 75 mm (3 in) and 100 mm (4 in) as standard.

Performance and Physical Characteristic

Exeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) has a high resistance to accident damage from knocks and handling during installation and

maintenance. Dimensionally stable under varying conditions of temperature and humidity, rot proof, odourless, non-hygroscopic

and will not sustain vermin or fungus.

. Working Temperature Specification Compliance

. Exeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) comply with the following standards:

Thermal Conductivity

. Thermal Resistance “R” Value (Excluding Facings) (ASTM C 167).

“R” is a measure of the resistance to heat flow of a material of any given thickness.

(“R” = m2.°C/W or hr. ft2.°F/Btu.)

where “T” = thickness and “K” or “ג” = thermal conductivity.

The following table shows the “K” values of standard products and sizes at 24°C (75°F) mean temperature.

The dependencies of thermal conductivity of Exeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) products on the mean temperature and

density, according to BS 874, ASTM C 177, 518, ISO 8301, 8302 or DIN 52612 are presented in the tables below:

Moisture Absorption

. Moisture Absorption (ASTM D-07 B, ASTM C 553).

In conditions of 95% relative humidity at 49°C for 96 hours,

moisture absorption is less than 0.2% by volume, when tested

in accordance with ASTM C 533. Glasswool products do not

absorb moisture from the ambient air.

Vapor Permeability

. FSK or ASJ or ALUGLASS faced Exeed Sectional Pipe

Insulation (ExSPI) complies with ASTM E 96 desiccant method.

Permeability not to exceed 0.02 perms for the FSK or ASJ and

for the ALUGLASS facing not to exceed ZERO perms (Federal

Standard HH-B-100B type 1).

Corrosiveness

. Corrosiveness (ASTM C 665)

Chemically inert, will not cause or accelerate corrosion of steel, stainless steel, copper or aluminum, due to its particular inorganic

and mineral composition.

Non Corrosive to Metal Exeed glasswool being chemically very stable does not react with metal or any other matter under normal condition. Its pH

valueis very near to seven, so it is neither acidic nor basic in nature. Moreover, it is free from shots, sulphur and chlorides. It

is non-hygroscopic, too. So the structural members are completely safe from corrosion.

. Linear shrinkageExeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) coverings shrinkage is negligible when tested in accordance with ASTM C 356.

. FlexibilityExeed Sectional Pipe Insulation (ExSPI) coverings will permit expansion and contractions of the pipe without cracking or shrinking.

ALUGLASS Facing Benefits

. A substitute for conventional thermal insulation products that requires a costly and labor intensive work at site e.g. protection

of pipe insulation by additional weather proofing.

. An ideal substitute for conventional thermal insulation practices.

. Provides factory applied thermal sealing system.

. It has an extremely high Bursting strength of 270 psi i.e. 3-4 times higher than that of conventional facings.

. It has an extremely high Tensile strength of 14.5 KN/m i.e. 3-4times higher than that of conventional facings.

. Having high mechanical strength, durability and dimensional stability.

. No water vapor can penetrate as AGL achieves Zero water vapor permeance.

. Can withstand temperature up to 250°C while other conventional facing are suitable to 100°C.

. Can be used with no additional requirement of handling and weather protection such as application of canvas + vapor barrier.

. Are compatible to direct painting. Recommended to use only anti-fungal and anti bacterial paints in areas where services are

exposed like, exhibition center etc. for aesthetic finish. This will save costly metallic cladding.
