Scope of Work Experience

The person will be expected to engage in the following work activities:

WA0101 Gather information on the people, their needs and strengths in the faith community

WA0102 Decide on a specific type of worship service

WA0103 Select and study a Bible Text

WA0104 Pray about what God wants to say to the faith community

WA0105 Prepare a sermon

WA0106 Plan a worship service

SE0102 Prepared sermon with notes on how the Bible text relates to the audience

Physical Requirements:

Functioning Church with all the facilities to practice the sacraments and religious practices as prescribed by the specific denomination.

Human Resource Requirements:

Supervised by an ordained minister that is recognised by the governance structures of the specific denomination.

Must have access to scribe to record portfolio of evidence in instances where learner can’t read or write

Legal Requirements:

Meet all the legal requirements for operating as a religious organisation.

2.1 Purpose of the Work Experience Modules

The focus of the work experience is on providing the learner an opportunity to:

observe and experience fellowship and care in a faith community and then to enhance the fellowship and care by means of ministry activities.

The learner will be required to:

WM-02-WE01: Observe and describe the existing relationships in the faith community

WM-02-WE02: Plan and prepare at least 3 ministry activities (such as prayer groups, visitations, youth groups, choirs) to enhance the quality of fellowship and mutual care in a specific faith community

WM-02-WE03: Conduct at least 3 group discussions to enhance the quality of fellowship and mutual care in a specific faith community

2.2 Guidelines for Work Experiences

2.2.1. WM-02-WE01: Observe and describe the existing relationships in the faith community

Scope of Work Experience

The person will be expected to engage in the following work activities:

WA0101 Interact with members of the faith community by means of a variety of modes of interaction (visitations, group meetings, leadership meetings) over a period of at least two months

WA0102 Discuss the relationships that were observed with the faith community leadership Compile a report on the findings of the evaluation of the relationships and the level of mutual support and sense of belonging

WA0103 Report on the findings of the evaluation of the relationships and the level of mutual support and sense of belonging

SE0102 Report on the modes of interaction, compiled from at least five visitations, three group meetings and one leadership meeting

2.2.2. WM-02-WE02: Plan and prepare at least 3 ministry activities (such as prayer groups, visitations, youth groups, choirs) to enhance the quality of fellowship and mutual care in a specific faith community

The person will be expected to engage in the following work activities:

WA0201 Identify aspects of fellowship and mutual care that needs to be enhanced or addressed

WA0202 Prepare specific ministry activities in a variety of settings (worship services, groups, etc) that focus on different interest groups (e.g. young married couples, parents, seniors, or persons in the same profession etc.) with the aim of enhancing the quality of fellowship and mutual care
