but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up
with wings like eagles
CENTERED SOARING
The Prayer Covenant
16I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the
fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19
The Missional Mandate
Show up - Speak up - Stand up
‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has
anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has
sent me to proclaim release to the captives and
recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed
go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.’
Luke 4:18-19
The Missional Motivation: People
Eyes –the eyes of Jesus for people
The Missional Cycle
Reach (reach the uninvolved with the good news, compassion and justice of Jesus).
Grow (grow with one another as disciples of Jesus)
Send (send one another to reach and to serve)
The Early Church was VITAL: Centered & Soaring!
Centered: 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching
and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Soaring: 43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and
signs were being done by the apostles. 44 All who believed were
together and had all things in common; 45 they would sell their
possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any
had need. 46 Day by day, as they spent much time together in the
temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and
generous hearts, 47 praising God and having the goodwill of all the
people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who
were being saved.
Ways to Grow a Missional Mentality: the self-concept
that ”I am sent.”
1. Ongoing emphasis on “people eyes”
2. Regular use of the Halverson Benediction
The Halverson Benediction
“Wherever you go, God is sending
you, wherever you are, God has put
you there, He has a purpose in your
being there. Christ Who indwells
you has something He wants to do
through you where you are. Believe
this and go in His grace and love
and power.”
- Richard C. Halverson

Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
Do you confess your dependence on the Holy Spirit to llyou and guide you in your life and ministry?
Do you promise to serve faithfully as you (name the work), and as we join with the Holy Spirit in supporting you in this work?
3. Regular Sending Moments during Worship
Gracious God, just as you sent the apostles into the world to do the work of Christ, you send us into our world to serve him. Today we pray for ___________ as he/she is sent to serve in ______________. Uphold and guide him/her as he/she/ seeks to do your will. As we send him/her, make us mindful that all of us are sent to do your will wherever we may be each and every day. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
