First start by gluing the ribbon at the back of the flip flop with just a bit of hot glue.

Continue to wrap the edge of the flip flops with your ribbon and gluing down just a bit as you go along.

Once you finish wrapping the ribbon and gluing it down around the entire flip flop, slightly overlap the ribbon where you started it at the back of the sandal and glue down.

Now we are going to wrap the plastic straps. Start by gluing down the ribbon as shown (on the bottom side of the strap.)

Wrap the ribbon around the strap, overlapping slightly. I like to glue it down every so often with just a dab of glue so it stays in place.

Here is the finished flip flop with straps wrapped in ribbon. I love how beautiful it looks already! You could keep it like this or start to add some embellishments.

You could also just glue down some ribbon along the top of the straps, if you’d prefer to do that instead of wrapping them.

If you want to use flowers on your flip flops, here’s an easy way… Buy silk flowers from a dollar store or craft store and take out the plastic centers so you just have the flower petals.

Now glue down your layers of petals with a dab of glue. I like to alternate layers with different colors. You can also have all of the larger color flower (pink) at the bottom and the smaller flower layers (white) at the top. You can also use some boa to make a fun boa poof at the the top of your flip flops. Grab a small strip of boa (I’m using just 6 inches). Now just wrap it up into a ball and glue down every so often so it stays together. Make as large or as small as you’d like!

You can use whatever you like for the center. Here are some of the options I just showed you: boa poof and flowers. Even a rag bow would be great!

I love making these for little girls but also I have fun wearing them!

Here are the sandals I wore for my wedding:

For these, we simply glue down some ribbon and small flower embellishments along the top of the straps!
