AcademicsThe system is set up in a manner that helps players through the tertiary education system.

Players are required to maintain a minimum 60% average to continue playing in the programme.

We also offer partial bursaries to our top performers

We only started giving partial bursaries to players in 2004. We currently have nine (9) players on partial. For us to be able to assist our student athletes through the system, we need to provide adequate financial assistance to cover accommodation, meals and tuition. We are concentrating on providing adequate assistance to a smaller group of student athletes to ensure successful completion of their digrees.22

SWOT AnalysisStrengths & Opportunities

The bursary program in line with youth and women empowerment initiativesQuality facilities for proper training and playing that can also be used to generate additional fundsPlaying a good and attractive brand of football Recruiting non-student football players to make TuksFootball their club of choice and recruiting football playing students to make the University of Pretoria their academic institution of choice Involvement with the federation (SAFA) and major role player in the development of the womens game Creating study opportunities for players by offering attractive academic incentives An abundance of dedicated volunteers in womens footballSustainable community projects and strong ties with surrounding communities Very strong and readily recognizable brand recognition of the program is growing because our media profile is gaining strength. Weaknesses

Insufficient financial support lack of an adequate feeder system of quality players into the program (Solution = Junior Program) Inadequate access to support services such as the gym , physio, doctors, etc. heavy dependence on academic incentives to attract players to the club insufficient media profile and recognition Threats

Misconceptions that university clubs have money The poor performance of the National Team Inability to meet the basic needs of players such as transport subsidies for players staying outside Hatfield, which leads to players leaving the club and also leads to the program not being able to acquire the services of quality players who are not students.

Junior programThe reduced field size teaches the player to be physically efficient in the field space she is playing.

Less players on the field and in the teams allows the players to have more individual teaching time with the coach. Why 7-a-side? allow players to have more time on the ball and they become more skillful with it, which then increases the technical proficiency of the players.

allow players to make more, less-complicated decisions during the game which is good for tactical development.

30

Junior programSmall sided games allow players to have more, involved playing time in the game and this helps them to solve problems that only a game presents.

Small sided games allow players more opportunity to play on both sides of the ball and this gives them more exposure to attacking and defending. There is increased 1v1 and 2v1 encounters in both attacking and defending situations.

In small sided games there are more opportunities to score and this makes it fun and exciting for young players. Why 7-a-side?
