We are grateful for the generous support that you give to Holy Family Parish through your weekly contributions. Have you considered providing for the continuation of that support by including the parish in your Will? Bequests given to the parish through Wills are for the sole use of Holy Family Parish. To include the parish in your Will, the correct language is ” I give (a percentage or amount) to Holy Family Parish in Shorewood, lL”. Please contact the parish for any questions.

SecondWeek of Advent
Musical Musings:
And now we change the key… Blessed Advent, HF families! I’d like to discuss some
musical changes that you may notice in the liturgy
starting this weekend. The Diocese of Joliet released
clarified instructions for music directors about how to
safely include music in the liturgy. One thing in particular
that is different is in regards to music selection: “No
songs that the parishioners might sing are to be
selected.” If you would like to read the update in full, it
can be found here: http://www.dioceseofjoliet.org/
bishop/content1.php?secid=76.
In order to comply with the guidelines from the
diocese while still keeping the members of my ministry
safe, you may notice an increase in instrumental music
and a decrease in sung hymns. This is a foreign concept
to me, as I’m sure it is to some of you, because I have
always had my most meaningful worship and prayer
occur in the form of song. As your music director, I can
assure you that music will remain a part of the liturgy
during this unusual time, although it may not be in the
manner that we would prefer it to be.
I celebrated my one-year anniversary working for
Holy Family this month. This past year has been
memorable, certainly, but I am continually amazed and
humbled by the words and notes of thanks and support
that I have received from the parish and those in my
ministry. In a time like this, I cannot adequately express
how much that support has meant to me. I look forward
to celebrating another Advent and Christmas season
with you and your families!
Musically yours,
Tamara Malebranche

The Lord is with You. The Lord is not just with Mary. That same God is also with us. Thus,
also with me. For, as Saint Paul says, God chose us in Christ to be holy [too].

Join us in Prayer
for an end to
the Coronavirus Pandemic Novena Prayer to St. Rocco
O Great St. Rocco, deliver us, we beseech thee,
from the scourges of God; through thy intercession,
preserve our bodies from contagious diseases, and
our souls from the contagion of sin. Obtain for us
salubrious air; but, above all, purity of heart.
Assist us to make good use of health, to bear
suffering with patience; and, after thy example, to
live in the practice of penance and charity, that we
may one day enjoy the happiness which thou has
merited by thy virtues.
St. Rocco, pray for us
(say three times).
