What is Second Career?

Second Career provides laid-off workers (since Jan. 2005) with:

skills training (up to 24 months) to help them find jobs in high-demand occupations in Ontario and financial support up to $28,000 (courses, books, transportation, living expenses)

Second Career is a cost-sharing grant provided on the basis of need, so you may be asked to contribute what you can to your training or education.

Deuxième carrière offre aux personnes qui ont été mises à pied depuis Janvier 2005 :une formation professionnelle jusqu’à 24 mois pour les aider à décrocher un emploi dans un domaine en forte demande en Ontarioun soutien financier d’au plus 28,000 $ (scolarité, manuels, transport, subsistance)

Deuxième Carrière est une subvention à frais partagés fournie en fonction des besoins; vous aurez donc peut-être à contribuer à votre éducation ou formation selon vos moyens.

are laid off or have been laid off since January 2005laid off means: contract has ended and won't be renewed; received EI maternity or parental benefits; left work due to medical reasonsare unemployed (less than 20 hrs/week) or working an interim low skills job (low wage - $423/week) or on salary continuation or have received severance payare choosing to retrain for a career that is in demand

Est-ce que Deuxième carrière me convient? Vous pouvez présenter une demande à Deuxième carrière si :

vous avez été mis à pied après le 1er janvier 2005mis à pied = contrat terminé (et vous n’allez pas recommencer le travail) ; commencé un congé de maternité ou parental avec AE; quitté emploi pour raisons médicalesvous êtes sans emploi (ou moins de 20 hrs/sem) ou emploi provisoire (salaire peu élevé – 423$/sem - et exigeant peu de compétences) ou continuation de salaire ou reçu une indemnité de départvous décidez de vous recycler dans une carrière en demande
