Coming in January: Thursday 1/16 6 p.m.: What Took So Long? CIC Director Laura MacNeil answers the question in a guided tour of the History of the Second Avenue Subway exhibit. Open Saturday 1/11 – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday 1/30 6 p.m.: Back by Popular Demand! Transit historian Peter Derrick talks about the NYC Subway from its start to today.

Construction Update

Work Hours

• Intermittentstreetclosingswilloccuron93rd,94th,and95thStreets between First and Second Avenues, and on 94th Street between Second and Third Avenues. Street closures are necessary for project-wide structural work.

• Newfencehasbeeninstalledthroughoutthe96thStreetStationarea.

• Thecontractor:

o Will continue concrete deliveries for the mezzanine slab, ancillary, and roof throughout January (about three deliveries per week).

o Will shift traffic barriers on Second Avenue at 93rd Street so all traffic will travel straight down the west side of the street.

• The contractor plans to complete installation of the mezzanine slab throughout the station and continue installation of the roof slab.

• The contractor plans to begin installation of the interior block walls on the mezzanine level.

Future entrance of the 96th Street Station on Second Avenue.

The future 96th Street Station will have three entrances with 10 escalators and one ADA accessible elevator from street level. The construction in this area involved heavy civil/structural work for the 96th Street Station which was completed in November 2013.

The follow-on contract is underway and will include the building of the station structure, systems, and finishes. This follow-on contracted will be complete in December 2015.
